Lesson 5

SIN
Law and
Grace
Law

Standards and
principles.
Grace

Undeserved
favor and loving
favor.
Law and
Love
Love sums up the will of God for
humankind, and righteousness is
described as right or truth in the
moral realm even though we do
not hold the two.
What is sin?
Sin is unpopular word,
but a very popular
activity.
Definition of Sin
Sin is moral wrong. There is much wrong
in the world that is not moral. Sin has
something to do moral conditions and
behavior relating to the righteous of
character of God and will for creatures
made in his moral likeness.
Sin is not a violation of
any just law but a
violation of the law of
God.
Sinful Nature
The Bible taught that human is
essentially morally flawed in his nature.
Man is sinner by nature. (Ephesians
2:3).
Man’s heart is, from birth, inclined to
evil. It does not mean that he or she
is incapable of doing anything
good. It means that man is fallen.
Biblical sin, then, is not just sins
against men but sin against
God, not just sinful behavior
but a sinful nature.
Not just a sinful activity but sinful
thoughts, not just sin of violation
but sin of omission, falling short
of likeness to God.
What is the
difference sin
and guilt?
The Bible said that there
was never a sharp
distinction between sin and
guilt.
Origin of Sin
The Bible clearly and repeatedly
teaches the sinfulness had no part in
mankind as originally designed by
God. Sin entered from the human race
form the outside and that agent was
Satan.
Results of Sin
1.Total Depravity – the person is
infected in every dimension in life
– his thinking his affection, his
body, his relationship and above
all his will.
2. Judgment – It means
separation from God.
(Romans 6:23)
