COMMENTED Viraj Cooling Tower Design Document 30.04.2025
DESIGN PHILOSOPHY
1 Basin is a rectangular RCC tank and modelled in STAAD pro for analysis.
2 Basin is a ground supported structure so earth pressure is not applied.
3 The structure contains water inside and subjected to hydrostatic forces
Loadings: 1) Tank test case - Hydrostatic loadings only
2) Tank Empty case- No Hydrostatic loadings
4 The structure is ground supported, the base slab is subjected to bearing type of loads, ground preparation
to achieve the required compaction during construction.
5 Seismic: Underground tank structure is designed for R=2.5 value.
6 Basin is designed using WSM.

l Some Of the checks For vertical And horizontal reinforcement are updated In latest version Of
RCDC, Thus If the RCDC file created Using older version (older than V11 Update 1), Is opened In
latest version And calculation reports are directly generated, Then, some Of the values printed In the
report may Not match the design. For such files created Using older version, it Is recommended To
unlock the old design And re-perform the same
