Exploring the Diversity of Vertebrates in Castilla-La Mancha: A Journey of

Discovery
INTRODUCTION

Welcome to the exciting world of vertebrates in Castilla-La Mancha! In this study project, we
will embark together on a journey of discovery to explore the astonishing diversity of
vertebrate animals that inhabit our region. Throughout this journey, we'll dive into the five
main groups of vertebrates: fish, amphibians, reptiles, birds, and mammals. We will learn
about their habitats, their fascinating characteristics and the challenges they face in our
environment.

Our region, Castilla-La Mancha, is a place rich in biodiversity, with a wide variety of habitats
ranging from mountains to rivers, forests and plains. In each of these environments, an
incredible diversity of vertebrate animals has evolved to adapt to the unique conditions our
land offers.

Throughout this project, we will explore how each class of vertebrates has adapted to its
specific habitat in Castilla-La Mancha. From the fish that roam the rivers and streams of our
lands to the mammals that inhabit our forests and fields, we will discover the unique
characteristics that allow them to survive and thrive in their environment.

However, we will also address a crucial issue: the International Union for Conservation of
Nature (IUCN) and the causes that threaten our vertebrate species. As we explore the beauty
of wildlife in our region, we must also understand the challenges they face and how we can
work together to protect and conserve our valuable natural heritage.

PROCEDURE

First of all, you'll have to choose one of the following species of vertebrates that inhabit
Castilla-La Mancha

Species:

1. Iberian Imperial Eagle (Aquila adalberti)

2. Common Barel (Barbus bocagei)

3. Gallipato (Pleurodeles waltl)

4. Grey Heron (Ardea cinerea)

5. Iberian Desman (Galemys pyrenaicus)

6. Light-edged bat (Pipistrellus kuhlii)

7. Pocaon (Mustela putorius)

8. Lesser Kestrel (Falco naumanni)

9. European otter (Lutra lutra)

10. Ocellated lizard (Timon lepidus)

11. Pike (Esox lucius)

12. Valverde's lizard (Algyroides marchi)

13. Iberian lynx (Lynx pardinus)

Once chosen, you must explore information to fill out the Power Point template that has been
provided to you and complete it in the Office 365 environment.

The information you'll need to find out about your animals is:

 Class to which it belongs and its characteristics

 Your animal's habitat
 Characteristics of this species
 IUCN risk and the causes in case it is in danger
 Imagery

EVALUATION

The completed template will be evaluated with the corresponding information and the display
of your chosen animal. The deadline to submit the completed template is May 19. The
exhibitions will be held later on the dates agreed with the teacher.

This project evaluates the evaluation criteria: 1.2, 2.1, 3.5, 5.1
