About Vivekananda College
Vivekananda College, University of Delhi was set up in 1970 in Gandhi Nagar by the Delhi
Administration (now the Government of NCT of Delhi) out of grants from UGC and Delhi
Administration with a specific objective of providing opportunities for higher education to
women. It has been accredited with grade ‘A+’ by the National Assessment and Accreditation
Council (NAAC) in 2024. The college holds a pre-eminent position in East Delhi among the
University of Delhi colleges.
Call For papers
Vivekananda College invites research papers for the 2-day National Conference on ‘Aging in
the Digital Era: Navigating Social Change and Beyond’ to be held on 30 September - 01
October 2024. In an era characterized by rapid digital advancements and evolving social
landscapes, the intersection of aging and technology presents both opportunities and
challenges. Our 2-day National Conference on ‘Aging in the Digital Era: Navigating Social
Change and Beyond’ aims to delve into this dynamic interplay, exploring how aging individuals
navigate the digital world amidst broader societal transformations. Through multidisciplinary
discussions and insightful presentations, we will address key themes such as digital inclusion,
social connectivity and the impact of technological innovation on the lives of older adults. Join
us as we examine the implications of aging in the digital age and chart a course towards
successful and empowered aging experiences.
Concept Note:
To achieve good health and well-being, older individuals must possess the ability to identify
and pursue their aspirations, as well as adapt to changes in their environment. This endeavour
is closely linked to the understanding that social participation is intricately intertwined with
contemporary contexts, including technological advancements and digitalization. The internet,
social media platforms, online communities, mobile phones, etc. are rapidly evolving and these
advancements are affecting family dynamics, intergenerational relationships as well as our very
social fabric. These evolving dynamics underscore the importance of thoughtful policy
formulation to address the multifaceted impacts on aging populations. Through our seminar,
we aim to shed light on the intricate interplay of factors affecting the elderly, including family
dynamics, social support systems and the digital landscape, fostering a deeper understanding
of the challenges and opportunities in this complex terrain.
Conference Objectives:
• Foster interdisciplinary dialogues leveraging digital advancements to enhance
the health and well-being of elderly individuals.
• Explore the impact of societal transformations including demographic shifts,
technological advancements and cultural changes on the lives of elderly
individuals.
• Understand the influence of familial dynamics and cultural values in India
amidst digital transformations to foster intergenerational harmony.
• Spearhead awareness and advocacy initiatives to cultivate a more supportive
societal milieu that values the contributions and dignity of elderly individuals.
• Strengthen collaborations between policymakers, NGOs and relevant
stakeholders, aimed at improving the lives of the elderly.

Abstract submission guidelines:
We invite original paper submissions aligned with the overarching themes of the conference.
Abstracts for papers are sought under broad thematic areas relevant to the conference, adhering
to the following guidelines:
• Abstracts (up to 300 words) submission only in English or Hindi (12-point Times New
Roman, 14-point for heading with single line spacing)
• Provide names of authors/ co-authors, affiliations, and email address of corresponding
author in bold
• All submissions must be original
• Submit the abstract as per below given schedule to: [email protected]
The author will receive an email confirmation if the abstract is accepted. Following this
acceptance, registration and the final paper submission on the above email (not exceeding 5000
words with APA style referencing) needs to be made as per the schedule given below:
• Deadline for submission of Abstract- 10 September 2024
• Notification of acceptance of Paper- 15 September, 2024
• Last date for registration and full paper submission- 20 September 2024
• Revised Conference dates-30 September - 01 October 2024
Registration and Certificates
• Only registered authors and participants will receive a certificate.
• In case the submission has multiple authors and more than one author would like to
participate in the conference, each participant needs to register separately and pay the
registration fee separately. However, only ONE author amongst the authors will be
allowed to present the paper while all registered authors/ co-authors will receive the
certificate of presentation.
• Last date for registration: 20 September 2024.
