NOUNS

NOUNS

A noun is a word that names a person, place, thing, or idea.

TYPES OF NOUNS:

1. Common Noun - names general items (e.g., city, car, dog)

2. Proper Noun - specific names (e.g., Paris, Toyota)

3. Abstract Noun - feelings, ideas (e.g., love, fear)

4. Concrete Noun - things you can touch (e.g., apple, chair)

5. Collective Noun - groups (e.g., team, flock)

6. Countable Noun - can be counted (e.g., books, apples)

7. Uncountable Noun - cannot be counted (e.g., milk, information)

PRONOUNS

PRONOUNS

A pronoun is a word used instead of a noun to avoid repetition.

TYPES OF PRONOUNS:

1. Personal Pronouns - I, you, he, she, it, we, they

2. Possessive Pronouns - mine, yours, his, hers, ours, theirs

3. Reflexive Pronouns - myself, yourself, himself, etc.

4. Demonstrative Pronouns - this, that, these, those

5. Interrogative Pronouns - who, what, which, whom, whose

6. Relative Pronouns - who, which, that, whose

VERBS

VERBS

A verb is a word that expresses an action or a state of being.

TYPES OF VERBS:

1. Action Verbs - show actions (e.g., run, eat, play)

2. Linking Verbs - connect subject to information (e.g., is, seem, become)

3. Helping Verbs - assist main verb (e.g., have, do, will)

4. Transitive Verbs - take an object (e.g., play football)

5. Intransitive Verbs - do not take object (e.g., sleep)

6. Modal Verbs - express necessity or possibility (e.g., can, must, should)
