Solve for Tomorrow - India – 2025

Terms and Conditions (“TnC”)

By entering into this “Samsung Solve for Tomorrow” competition (“Competition/ Program”), you
(the “Applicant”) agree to be bound by these terms and conditions. Any information at
www.samsung.com/in/solvefortomorrow/ or set out elsewhere in the application process form part of
these terms and conditions.

FOR SAKE OF CLARITY, IT IS CLARIFIED THAT THE COMPETITION SHALL BE


IMPLEMENTED END TO END AND INDEPENDENTLY BY OUR IMPLEMENTATION
PARTNER VIZ. FOUNDATION FOR INNOVATION AND TECHNOLOGY TRANSFER,
INDIAN INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY DELHI (IIT-D). ALL QUERIES RELATED TO THE
COMPETITION SHALL BE ADDRESSED BY FOUNDATION FOR INNOVATION AND
TECHNOLOGY TRANSFER, INDIAN INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY DELHI (IIT-D).

Entry into the Competition signifies acceptance of these Terms and Conditions.

The competition is open to Indian Nationals aged 14-22 years who aim to leverage innovation and
emerging technologies to create a secure, thriving, and sustainable society. By focussing on intelligent
solutions, public health, physical development, and ecological balance, it aims to enhance quality of
life, bridge societal gaps, and open new avenues for growth. Applicants can apply under any of the
following themes:

i. AI for safer, smarter & inclusive Bharat


ii. Future of health, hygiene & wellbeing in India
iii. Social Change through Sports & Tech: For Education & Better Futures
iv. Environmental Sustainability via Technology

The Competition is divided into four phases with a selection process at each phase, so that only those
Applicants who are successful in that phase can participate in the subsequent phase.

1. Definitions

Term Meaning
“Applicant” means the applicant applying to participate in the Competition
“Conditions” means these conditions of participation.
“Competition” means the “Samsung: Solve for Tomorrow” competition to be held in the
year 2025 .
"Competition Brief” means the brief against which the Applicants must submit an Idea as part
of their Entry to the competition.
“Design Thinking” means cognitive, strategic and practical processes by which design
concepts (proposals for products, buildings, machines, communications,
etc.) are developed.
“Entry” means application form filed by Applicant as per the requisite format
within the timeline containing necessary details.
“Entries” means every Entry.

“Finalist” means a Participant that has been selected to take part in Phase 4 of the
Competition
“Final Pitch Event” Means the final pitch event where the
(A) Top 5 Teams under the theme ‘AI for smarter, safer & inclusive
Bharat’ shall pitch their idea to Grand Jury on the Grand Finale;
(B) Top 5 Teams under the theme ‘Future of health hygiene &
wellbeing in India” shall pitch their idea to Grand Jury on the
Grand Finale;
(C) Top 5 teams under the theme ‘ Social Change through Sports &
Tech: For Education & Better Futures’ with pitch their idea to
Grand Jury on the Grand Finale; and
(D) Top 5 teams under ‘Environmental Sustainability via
Technology’ will pitch their idea to Grand Jury on the Grand
Finale
“FITT” or means Foundation for Innovation and Technology Transfer, an incubation
“Implementation centre at Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, the implementation partner
Partner” for Samsung Solve for Tomorrow.
“Grant” Grant means and includes:

(A) Grant of INR 20,000 (INR Twenty Thousand only) for Prototype
Development per Team for top 40 Teams as shortlisted in the
Phase 2 of the Program (Top 10 teams in each theme);
(B) Grant of INR 1,00,000 (INR One lakh only) for Prototype
Enhancement per team to be given to top 20 teams as shortlisted
in the Phase 3 of the Program (Top 5 teams in each theme );
(C) Grant of INR 25,00,000 (INR Twenty-five lakh only) as a part of
seed & incubation grant for 4 winning teams as selected in Phase
4 of the Program (1 winning team in each theme);

“Goodwill Award” means an audience choice award given to two teams from any of the
themes as per provisions of Clause 7.5 of these Terms and shall comprise:

(a) Cash Prize of INR 100,000 (INR One lakh only) for each of the two
selected teams

Young Innovator means an award given to two teams from any of the themes, selected by
Award / Women in Grand Jury during Grand Finale Event, as per provisions of the clause 7.5
Innovation Award of these terms. Selection criteria may include, but not limiting to, all
women team (team to have more than 1 team member, all women), team
comprising school students, teams including person with disabilities,
teams from underrepresented communities or regions, teams with
sustainable and long-term solutions etc.

(a) Cash prize of INR 100,000 (INR One lakh only) for each of the
two selected teams.

“Government Partner” means such Government entities in India who may collaborate for Solve
for Tomorrow.
“Idea” means the idea or solution entered by an Applicant in response to one of
the Themes.
“Innovation means training workshops at IIT Delhi for Top 40 teams
Bootcamp”
“Participant” means the Team that has made an Entry and shortlisted for participation
in the Competition as per the screening criteria of Samsung and
Implementation Partner.
“Phase 1” Shall have the meaning ascribed under Clause 4 of this TnC setting forth
the proposed activities to be conducted during such period of the
competition.
“Phase 2” Shall have the meaning ascribed under Clause 5 of this TnC setting forth
the proposed activities to be conducted during such period of the
competition.
“Phase 3” Shall have the meaning ascribed under Clause 6 of this TnC setting forth
the proposed activities to be conducted during such period of the
competition. .
“Phase 4” Shall have the meaning ascribed under Clause 7 of this TnC setting forth
the proposed activities to be conducted during such period of the
competition. .
“Prototype” means a pre-production sample, model, or release of a product that is used
to test a concept or process.
“Video Pitch means video pitch submission along with pitch deck by top 100 teams, as
Submission ” detailed in Clause 5 of these Terms.
“Samsung” means Samsung India Electronics Private Limited.
“Samsung Hampers” means hampers comprising of certain Samsung devices such as Samsung
laptops, tabs, watch, phones or any product as defined by Samsung at its
sole discretion.
“Selection Criteria-means the criteria as set forth in Clause 5.3 of this TnC as part of the
Phase2 – Part 1” or competition .
“Selection criteria for means the criteria as set forth in Clause 5.8 of this TnC as part of the
Phase 2- Part 2 ” competition
“Selection Criteria - means the criteria as set forth in Clause 6.8 of this TnC as part of the
Phase 3” or competition
“Selection Criteria - means the criteria as set forth in Clause 7.8 of this TnC as part of the
Phase 4” or “Winning competition
Criteria for Phase 4”
Social Media means social media award given to one team from any theme for the
Champion Award exceptional display of Solve For Tomorrow journey on social media
(A) Cash Prize of INR 50,000 (INR fifty-thousand only) for one team
from any theme as selected by Samsung/Audience as per these
Terms
“Submissions” means any information submitted by an Applicant at any stage in relation
to the Idea/Theme as part of submission to the Competition

“Team” means group of maximum 3 individuals who are applying together as a
team to participate in the Competition with one identified Team Leader.

In case of a single individual applying, then such Team shall be construed


to mean and include only such single individual who has applied in this
Competition.
“Theme” means one of the themes as set by Samsung as the basis for the
Competition and enumerated under Clause 4.2 below.
Design Thinking Assistive tool that guides participants through the design thinking process
Toolkit - empathizing, defining, ideating, prototyping, and testing – to develop
innovative solutions. The toolkit provides structured frameworks and
resources to help participants navigate the application form.
"Winners" 4 final successful Teams selected at the Final Pitch Event, one team from
each theme (1 winner per theme) who are awarded with prizes and
products as defined by Samsung.

2. ELIGIBILITY

2.1 The Competition is open to Indian nationals aged 14 to 22 years as on the final day of the
application period (i.e. 30th June 2025). An individual (18 years and above) can apply directly
either individually or forming a team of upto 3 members. Any applicants below 18 years must
apply with the parent/guardian consent. Parental/guardian consent is mandatory for all
applicants below 18 years. Upon submission of the application form, email shall be sent to the
parent/guardian, along with Terms & Conditions and Privacy Notice, application shall be
deemed successfully submitted only upon receipt of required consent. Should parent/guardian
consent not be received within 7 (seven) days from the date of application, the application
shall be deemed disqualified, and all associated applicant data shall be permanently removed
from the system. In the event of disqualification due to non-receipt of parental consent, the
applicant must submit a new application to participate in the competition. In cases, where a
team includes both minor (i.e. below 18 years) and adult members (18 – 22 year old),
parental/guardian consent is required solely & individually for the minor members.

Parental/guardian consent is mandatory for the applicants with disabilities, regardless of


whether they are minors or adults. If a team includes a disabled applicant(s), they must provide
a valid email address of their parent/guardian to receive the consent request. The application
will be considered complete and submitted only after parental/guardian consent is obtained.
Should parent/guardian consent not be received within 7 (seven) days from the date of
application, the application shall be deemed disqualified, and all associated applicant data shall
be permanently removed from the system. In the event of disqualification due to non-receipt
of parental consent, the applicant must submit a new application to participate in the
competition.

Only individuals meeting all the required terms and conditions are eligible to participate and
not entities like partnership firms, companies, schools, colleges etc.

2.2 Teams shall apply only in one of the 4 themes as outlined below:

b) Future of Health, hygiene & wellbeing in India
c) Social Change through Sports & Tech – For Education & Better Futures
d) Environmental Sustainability via Technology

2.3 Applicant does not need to pay any amount for application.

2.4 Employees or agents of Samsung or its implementation agencies including Implementation


Partner, or any of its group companies or their immediate families or households or anyone
professionally connected (including their immediate families/ households) to the Competition
are not eligible to participate.

2.5 Ideas that are currently receiving funding or support, or which have previously received
funding/support of INR 5,00,000 (Indian Rupees Five Lakh only) or above in total (including
series of funding) in any manner whatsoever are not eligible to enter.

2.6 The Competition is open to single individual or teams comprising of up to three (3) individuals.

2.7 The Team Leader (himself/herself/or through the legal guardian, in case of being a minor)
shall make an entry on behalf of the Team. Each of the Team Member (including the Team
Leader) jointly and severally accept that the entry is made on their behalf subject to these
terms.

2.8 Each Applicant may only be part of one entry, either on their own or as part of a single team.
In other words, an individual cannot participate as more than one Applicant or as members of
more than one Team.

2.9 While submitting the Application, for determination of the location, the State and City needs
to be mandatorily selected.

2.10 Each Applicant/Team shall submit one (1) Idea only.

2.11 Applicants must create their own work, and not copy text, idea, images, audio, or video
recordings from third parties. It has to be an original work and not reproduction of work
created by others.

2.12 Participants/Teams that are shortlisted must be available to attend all workshops, mentoring
sessions, Innovation Bootcamp, National Pitch Event, and the Final Pitch Event as directed by
the Implementation Partner, in order to be eligible to continue participating in the Competition.
Samsung, at its sole discretion, reserves the right to disqualify any such Participant who fails
to attend any such Pitch events, workshops, mentoring sessions, final pitch event or other
events as directed by Implementation Partner.

2.13 Samsung and its implementation partner have the right to disqualify Teams in case of non-
attendance during workshops, online classes, or pitch events. In the case of disqualification,
the next eligible team as per the phase of the competition with the maximum marks may, at
the sole discretion of Samsung, be given an offer to join the competition.

2.14 Each Applicant will act in good faith, cooperate with any requests from Samsung or its
Implementation Partner, in a timely manner and not act in a manner, which may adversely
affect Samsung’s reputation, or adversely affect the health, safety or wellbeing of Samsung or
implementation partner’s staff or that of any other Applicant. Samsung reserves the right to
disqualify any Applicant who breaches the provisions or requirements of these Terms and
Conditions.

3. TENTATIVE TIMETABLE OF THE COMPETITION

The entire Competition runs from April 29, 2025 to approximately October 10, 2025,
tentatively scheduled as follows:

Implementation Partner may at its sole discretion
take any action as it deems fit, including but not
limited to cancelling such particular theme and
reducing the number of total shortlisted teams or
increasing the number of shortlists from any other
theme etc.
Online trainings – It is mandatory for all the 100
teams (first shortlist) to attend online trainings July 23 – August 03,
conducted by Samsung or Implementation 2025
Partner.

Video Pitch Submission - Post online training all


100 teams to submit a video pitch along with their
pitch deck for successful completion of this phase
and for consideration to the next round.

All dates stated above are tentative and subject to change at sole discretion of Samsung and/or
Implementation Partner. Changes in timelines will be notified on the website of
www.samsung.com/in/solvefortomorrow/ and successful participants of that phase will be
intimated on their registered email ids by Samsung or Implementation Partner.

There may be an addition of dates for any related workshops or media shoots that will be
notified to the teams and their guardians in prior.

Exact dates and curriculum of workshops, online classes and the pitch event will be confirmed
closer to the time, and the Implementation Partner will work with Phase 2 Teams to secure
convenient dates. Attendance on the agreed dates will be mandatory in order to progress with
the Competition. Samsung reserves the right to disqualify any Participant for failure to attend
the sessions and no claims whatsoever shall be entertained in this regard.

4. PHASE 1 - APPLICATION WINDOW

4.1 Applicants must submit their Entry by duly and completely filing the Application Form on
www.samsung.com/in/solvefortomorrow/ by 17:00 hours (IST) on June 30, 2025 (the
“Application Deadline”).

4.2 Illegible applications with teams that do not match the criteria or incomplete applications will
be disqualified.

4.3 Each Applicant can submit a maximum of one (1) entry.

Teams and apply in any one of the 4 themes. The Entry must consist of:

 the fully completed online application form, with answers to all questions, and
 Parental/guardian consent is mandatory for the applicants below 18 years of age. If team
includes a minor(s), they must provide a valid email address of their parent/guardian to

receive the consent request. The application will be considered complete and submitted
only after parental/guardian consent is obtained.
 Parental/guardian consent is mandatory for the applicants with disabilities, regardless of

5. PHASE 2- EVALUATION FIRST 100 SHORTLISTS

5.1 All the entries will be reviewed and judged by a panel of reviewers of FITT, IIT-Delhi and/or
Samsung. The Entries which do not meet the requisite Eligibility Criteria as mentioned under
S.No.2 shall stand rejected in the first place. The panel of judges shall review the Entries to
determine top 100 with 25 entries selected from each theme, which, in the panel of reviewers’
view, best meet the Selection Criteria for Phase 2- Part I. The panel of judges’ decision is final.

5.2 The 100 (hundred) selected Teams whose Entries have the highest scores will be notified by
email and shall proceed further in the Competition.

5.3 The selection criteria for determining the top 100 winning Entries (with 25 entries selected
from each theme) in first phase of Phase 2 includes the following criteria (“Selection Criteria
for Phase 2- Part I”):

Ideas submitted by applicants will be judged on:

 Problem Identification/Innovation & Creativity - Clearly defines a real-world problem


within the chosen theme

 Innovativeness & Uniqueness - Originality of the idea compared to existing solutions.

 Development Stage/ Implementation - Practicality of execution in terms of resources


and technology. Readiness of the project from idea to Prototype.

 Impact Potential - Is primary stakeholders who will benefit from this solution in terms
of social, environmental, or economic impact. Communities or other relevant groups
well identified.

5.4 Only those 100 (hundred) Teams (comprising of 25 Teams selected from each theme) who
were successful and notified in accordance with clause 5.3 above can participate further.

5.5 Post selection of Top 100 Teams (with top 25 Teams from each theme), in this Phase 2, further
screening shall be done and top 25 teams from each theme shall submit their video pitch along
with pitch deck.

Each video pitch will be reviewed and judged by a panel of judges comprise of employees or
agents of Samsung and/or Implementation Partners of the Solve for Tomorrow program as
identified by Samsung at its sole discretion. The panel of judges’ decision is final.

Basis the Video pitch event/Rounds, from each Theme, a total of Top 40 teams will be selected
by the panel of judges, resulting into 10 teams from each theme and the same will be
announced as:

- Top 10 teams in theme ‘AI for smarter, safer & inclusive Bharat’
- Top 10 teams in theme ‘Future of health, hygiene & wellbeing in India’
- Top 10 teams in ‘Social Change through Sports & Tech: For Education & Better Futures’
- Top 10 teams in ‘Environmental Sustainability via Technology’

These Top 40 Teams shall proceed towards Phase 3 of the Competition.

5.6 Teams who do not submit their video pitch and pitch deck in stipulated timeframe will be
disqualified and will not be permitted to enter the next round.

 If any Team(s) backs out of the Competition, or is disqualified, the next eligible team
from the particular theme may be considered for top 100 as per criteria defined by
Samsung so on and so forth to complete the selection process or Samsung may take
such other actions as it may deem desirable including but not limited reducing the
number of selected teams etc. In the event of any back out of any selected Participant
for any reason whatsoever, Samsung at its sole discretion may be authorised to seek
return of any prizes given earlier to such Participant and the Participant agrees to
return within such timelines as intimated by Samsung.

5.7 The top forty (40) Teams (comprising of 10 teams from each theme) whose Pitch and
Developed Idea have the highest scores basis the selection criteria identified in Clause 5.8
below will be notified by Samsung by email and will proceed to the Phase 3 of the
Competition.

5.8 Selection criteria for selection of top 40 Teams (comprising of 10 teams from each theme) as
part of the Phase 2 includes the following criteria (“Selection Criteria- Phase 2-Part 2”):

Ideas will be judged on:

o Best use of technology (app, product or service) to address the track-specific competition
theme;
o Clear development of the idea since its original submission at Phase 1;
o Demonstrable use of research and/or testing to understand the needs of the intended target
audience;
o Creativity and originality of the Idea;
o Feasibility of the solution with current technology, resources, laws and regulations
considered;
o Potential for the Idea to beneficially impact society and/or the environment;
o Potential to reach its intended target audience;
o Demonstration of design thinking;
o Quality of the presentation of the Idea

If any Team(s) backs out of the competition, the next eligible team may be considered for top
40 as per criteria defined by Samsung so on and so forth to complete the selection process or

Samsung or its implementation partner may take such other decision as it may deem fit
including but not limited to reducing the total number of selected teams etc.

6. PHASE 3 – SEMI-FINALISTS

6.1 Only those forty (40) Teams (comprising of 10 teams from each theme) who were successful
and notified in accordance with clause 5.7 above can participate in Phase 3.

6.2 In Phase 3, Teams must further develop their Idea to a more complex concept based on a
detailed feedback from Samsung mentors, FITT mentors and such other mentors including
mentors nominated by government entities who may collaborate for this Program.

6.3 The Top 40 teams (comprising of 10 teams from each theme) may also receive expert guidance
from mentors/experts nominated by government entities who may collaborate for the Program
as part of the Competition.

6.4 In this phase, Teams will attend “Innovation Bootcamp” at Samsung offices followed by
residential training at IIT Delhi with tentative dates defined in clause 3. At the end of the
“Innovation Bootcamp”, Teams will pitch their refined idea to jury at IIT-Delhi during
National Pitch Event. Teams who fail to attend the workshops or pitch event will be
disqualified from the competition.

6.5 Each pitch will be reviewed and judged by a panel of judges comprised of employees or agents
of Samsung and/or key Partners of the Solve for Tomorrow program as identified by Samsung
at its sole discretion. The panel of judges shall review the Entries to determine the top 5 (five)
Teams from each theme (total 20 entries from 4 themes) which, in the panel of judges’ view,
best meet the Selection Criteria - Phase 3 as set forth in Clause 6.8 below. The panel of judges’
decision is final.

6.6 The top twenty (20) Teams (with 5 (five) teams from each theme ) whose Developed Idea
have the highest scores basis the selection criteria identified in Clause 6.8 below will be
notified by Samsung by email and will proceed to the Phase 4 of the Competition.

6.7 Selection criteria for Phase 3 includes the following criteria (“Selection Criteria –Phase 3”):

Ideas will be judged on:

 Best use of technology (app, product or service) to address the track-specific


competition theme;
 Clear development of the idea since its original submission at Phase 1;
 Demonstrable use of research and/or testing to understand the needs of the intended
target audience;
 Creativity and originality of the Idea;
 Feasibility of the solution with current technology, resources, laws and regulations
considered;
 Potential for the Idea to beneficially impact society and/or the environment;
 Potential to reach its intended target audience;
 Demonstration of design thinking;
 Quality of the presentation of the Idea

If any team(s) backs out of the competition, Samsung at its sole discretion may consider the
next eligible team for top 20 as per criteria defined by Samsung so on and so forth to complete
the selection process. In the event of any back out of any Participant for any reason whatsoever,
Samsung at its sole discretion may be authorised to seek return of any prizes given earlier to
such Participant and the Participant agrees to return within such timelines as intimated by
Samsung.

7. PHASE 4 – FINAL PITCH AND SELECTION OF FINALISTS

7.1 Only those five (5) Teams selected from each theme (total 20 teams) who were successful and
notified in accordance with clause 6.5 above can participate in the Finale Pitch Event.

7.2 Each Finalist will supplement their developed Idea with a live presentation at the Final Event.
The presentation will take place in front of representatives from Samsung and/or such other
representatives/experts as may be nominated by Samsung, its Implementation Partner and any
government entity collaborating with the Program etc.

7.3 If the Finalists plan to support their presentation with multimedia, this content must be sent by
email to the email address provided by Final Presentation Submission Deadline.

7.4 Each developed idea as supplemented by its presentation will be assessed by a panel of judges
comprised of employees or agents of Samsung or and/or such other members as identified by
Samsung at its sole discretion. The panel of judges shall review the Entries to determine one
(1) winning idea in each theme (total four (4) winning teams) which, in the panel of judges’
view, best meet the Selection Criteria - Phase 4. The panel of judges’ decision is final.

7.5 Samsung may also announce two teams for the “Goodwill Award” and two teams for the
“Young Innovator Award” regardless of the themes at the Grand Finale. The Goodwill Award
and Young Innovator Award will be selected (from amongst the top 5 (five) Teams selected
from each theme in the Phase 4) by Samsung basis the views/feedback/polling of audience
attending the grand finale event, or maybe through an online mechanism, or by alumni of the
earlier editions or any other mode as determined by Samsung. This award will be given at the
sole discretion of Samsung and applicable taxes that apply shall be borne by Samsung.

7.6 Samsung will also announce the “Social Media Champ” winner during this of the competition
i.e. Grand Finale. The Social Media Champion Award winner will be based on certain criteria
on engagement and reach of social media posts of the participating team.
a. Quantity – Consistently high volume of posts
b. Quality – Engaging, informative content
c. Platform Variety – Use of diverse social media platforms
d. Engagement – Significant audience interaction
e. Consistency – Regular posting throughout the competition
f. Positive Representation – Professional representation of the event

7.7 The final results will be announced at the pitch event which may be an event livestreamed on
TV and other digital platforms.

7.8 Selection criteria for Phase 4 includes the following criteria (“Selection Criteria – Phase 4 or
Winning Criteria Phase 4”):

Ideas will be judged on:

o Best use of technology (app, product or service) to address the track-specific


competition theme;
o Quality of detail and clarity within the final plan as showcased at the Pitch Event;
o Clear development and refinement of idea since Phase 2, including creation of
Prototype and testing with intended target audience;
o Creativity and originality of the idea;
o Feasibility of the solution with current technology, resources, laws and regulations
considered;
o Potential for the idea to beneficially impact society and/or the environment;
o Potential to reach its intended target audience;
o Demonstration of design thinking

8. Grants

8.1 GRANTS TO TEAMS WHICH ARE SHORTLISTED UNDER PHASE 2 PART 2- The
selected forty (40) Teams shortlisted by Selection Criteria– Phase 2 – Part 2 of the competition
will receive a Grant of INR 20,000 (Indian Rupees Twenty Thousand only) per Team to
develop their Prototype. The Grant will be used to the Teams to work on their Prototype, which
they will present during their Pitch session at the IIT-Delhi during National Pitch event in
Phase 3. In addition to the grant, each member of the Top 40 teams (10 teams in each theme)
will receive Samsung products as advised by Samsung.

8.2 GRANTS TO TEAMS WHICH ARE SHORTLISTED UNDER PHASE 3 - The selected
twenty (20) Teams (5 teams each theme) in Phase 3 of the competition shortlisted by Selection
Criteria will receive a grant of INR 1,00,000 (Indian Rupees One Lakh only) each (per Team)
for finalising/enhancing their Prototype. The grant will be used by the Team to fine-tune their
Prototype, which they will then showcase at the Grand Finale. In addition, each member of
Top 5 teams from each theme (total 20 teams) will receive Samsung products as advised by
Samsung.

8.3 GRANTS TO FINAL WINNER TEAM SELECTED UNDER PHASE 4 - The final 4
(four) winning teams will be the highest scoring finalist as selected by Selection Criteria –
Phase 4 for the competition. The grant will be capped at INR 1,00,00,000 (Indian Rupees One
Crore only). The grant will be used for “incubation” and therefore disbursed by the
implementation partner through phased milestones. Each winning team is eligible for a
maximum of INR 25,00,000 (Indian Rupees Twenty Five Lakh) grant out of the total capped
amount. In case of non-attainment of any phased milestones by the winner, Samsung or the
Implementation Partner shall be entitled to take such action as it may deem fit.

8.4 GOODWILL AWARD: The two (2) winning teams for the “Goodwill Award” regardless of
the themes will be the highest voted finalist based on audience polling during/before/after the
event online or offline. The “Goodwill Award” winners (2 winning teams) will receive a cash
award of INR 1,00, 000 (Indian Rupees One Lakh only) each.

8.5 YOUNG INNOVATOR AWARD/ WOMEN IN INNOVATION: The two (2) winning
teams for the “Young Innovator Award” regardless of the themes will be the highest scoring
finalist based on Jury evaluations during/after the event online or offline. The “Young
Innovator Award/Women in Innovation” winners (2 winning teams) will receive a cash award
of INR 1,00,000 (Indian Rupees One Lakh only) each.

8.6 SOCIAL MEDIA CHAMP AWARD - The “Social Media Champ” will be the highest
scoring team from the top 20 teams based on criteria on social engagement as defined by
Samsung. The “Social Media Champ” winner will receive a cash award of INR 50,000 (Indian
Rupees Fifty Thousand only).

8.7 Taxes: Tax Deduction at Source, if any, under the Income-tax Act, 1961 ('the Act') on
payments/ distribution of Samsung products made under this Agreement shall be borne by
Samsung. Winners shall provide a declaration for not claiming any TDS Certificate in this
regard. Declaration format is as attached herewith as Exhibit A.

8.8 Samsung and its implementation partners hold the right to retrieve Samsung products given to
selected teams / individuals if any Participant or any of its team members decide to leave the
programme in the middle or are unable to attend workshops or trainings and no claims in this
regard shall be raised by Participants

8.9 Samsung reserves the rights to disqualify Participants/teams if their conduct or content is
defamatory, offensive or contrary to the spirit or intention of the competition.

9. Use of Submissions

9.1 SIEL and its affiliates, the Implementation Partner, the Government entities collaborating in
the Competition, may, at their sole discretion, publish content produced by the winners and
any and all content received by it in connection with this Competition including photos, videos,
recordings of Participants, Prototypes created, any animation thereof etc. at any time
(including in the future) and for any reason on their respective websites, across their social
media channels including but not limited to, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn,
Snapchat, Google Display Ads and YouTube (which may include paid spend), newsletter, for
internal use, public relations and reporting of the Samsung Solve for Tomorrow campaign, as
well as any trade shows, in its stores and channel stores and public screens, whether now
known or invented in the future, and in connection with any publicity of the Competition.

9.2 Each Participant warrants that they are the person who created the Submission submitted to
this Competition and are the owner of the Idea submitted. The Participant shall indemnify
SIEL, the Implementation Partner other relevant entities collaborating for the Program and
hold them harmless from and against any losses, damages, liabilities, obligations, claims
(including third party claims), actions and demands, including without limitation reasonable
legal fees, arising directly or indirectly from any breach of warranty set out in this clause or
for any breach of obligations as set for the under these terms or conditions or for any breach
of confidentiality or for breach of any third party intellectual property rights or for any act or
omission of the Participant whatsoever.

9.3 Each Applicant agrees that Samsung and FITT, IIT Delhi, and their affiliated companies, other
relevant entities collaborating for the Program are entitled to report about the Competition,
including the Participant’s Ideas, Developed Solutions and Final Solution, images, photos,
videos etc. including for marketing purposes and participation in the Competition shall be
deemed consent by the Applicants for all such disclosures whatsoever and no claims shall be
entertained whatsoever in this regard.

9.4 Upon acceptance of these terms and conditions, it is acknowledged that no separate consent
form/no objection certificate will be signed, and acceptance to these terms serves as consent
to all outlined policies and terms.

10. Personal Data - Rights To Use Names, Images and Videos

10.1 All Personal Data provided by the Applicant shall be subject to Competition’s Privacy Notice.

10.2 Samsung and Implementation Partner shall only use your personal data for the purposes of
operating and administering the Competition (including contacting the Applicants in relation
to the Competition and award activities), and the below publicity and marketing purposes.
 Each Applicant that makes it to Phase 1, 2, 3 & 4 understands that Samsung and FITT,
their affiliated companies and other relevant entities collaborating for the Program,
may use their name, location and age in publicity and marketing relating to the
Competition.
 Each Applicant that makes it to Phase 1, 2, 3 & 4 understands that Samsung and FITT,
their affiliated companies and other relevant entities collaborating for the Program,
may use personal data, such as photographs and videos, which the Participant submits
in publicity and marketing relating to the Competition.
 Each Applicant that makes it to Phase 1, 2, 3 & 4 understands that Samsung and FITT,
their affiliated companies and other relevant entities collaborating for the Program,
may take and use photographs and videos at the events in publicity and marketing
relating to the Competition.
 Each Applicant understands that Samsung and FITT Delhi, their affiliated companies,
relevant entities collaborating for the Program may use their email id/phone number
for contacting in case of any future similar competitions to be held by Samsung and/or
its Implementation Partner.

10.3 Each Applicant’s personal data will be held in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

11. Legal Terms

11.1 Representation and Warranties by Applicant/Participant (or their legal guardians in


case they are minors):

i) Applicant/Participant represents and warrants that he/she is legally competent to enter


into binding contracts under applicable laws either by itself or through its legal
guardians. By participating in the Competition, the Participant warrants that all
information provided by the Participant regarding its name, age, state, city, address,

phone number, etc., is true, correct, accurate and complete and that the Participant is
authorized to provide such information and consents to the use of such information by
Samsung and/or Implementation Partner. In case of Applicant/Participants between
the age group of 14 to 17, all necessary registrations and consents shall be completed
by the parent/guardian. In case, any discrepancies are identified at a later stage,
Samsung and/or Implementation Partner shall have the right to disqualify such
Applicant/Participant at its sole discretion.

ii) Participant agrees and consents that any and all information submitted by the
Participant including but not limited to the submissions and personal information of
the Participants may be required to be shared with other third parties engaged by
Samsung and/or Implementation Partner, for the purposes of verifying and/or audit
the authenticity of the entries received from the Participants. Further, the Participant
hereby understands that such third parties may be located outside the jurisdiction of
India and notwithstanding anything, each Participant consents to transfer of
information (including any personal information) to any such locations.

iii) Participant gives Samsung or its authorized third party partner, the right to publish and
broadcast anywhere in the world, for editorial, advertising, promotional, marketing
and/or other purposes and in any media, Participant’s and/or Winner’s name, image,
likeness and/or photograph, comments, discussions (except where prohibited by law)
for the purposes of filming the Competition, without any further permission or consent
or consideration in any form, including but not limited to, royalty.
Applicant/Participant authorizes Samsung, to copy, exhibit, publish, distribute or
otherwise use and disclose project reports, analysis, data, images and any information
pertaining to the submissions made under this Program for any other marketing and
public relations efforts or for any other lawful purpose now or in the future. The
material may be used in electronic media, printed publications, multimedia
presentations, on websites or in any other distribution media. Applicant/Participant
approves the disclosure by Samsung of material to the media, the public and other
individuals and entities that may be involved in Samsung’s marketing and public
relations efforts. Applicant/Participant agrees that he/she will make no monetary or
other claim against Samsung for the use of submissions done under the Program, and
hereby release Samsung from all claims for damages of any kind based on the use of
material or information provided the Applicant/Participant under the Program.

iv) Samsung will not accept any responsibility of licensing and copyright issues of the
used images.

v) Participant hereby agrees to indemnify and keep Samsung, its associated companies,
its event management company and their respective directors, officers, employees,
contractors and agents, indemnified against any and all losses, claims (including but
not limited to third party claims), injuries, costs, fees, fines, penalties, taxes, charges
and any other liability arising out of any act of omission, commission, fraud,
negligence or misconduct by the Participant.

11.2 Disclaimers:

i) Samsung shall not be responsible for any force majeure event that may prevent a
Participant from participating in the Competition or that may result in
cancellation/postponement of the Competition. Further, Samsung will not be responsible
or liable for: (a) any failure to receive submissions due to transmission failures and other
conditions beyond its reasonable control; (b) any late, lost, misrouted, or damaged
transmissions or entries; (c) any computer or communications related malfunctions or
failures; (d) any disruptions, losses or damages caused by events beyond the control of
Samsung; or (e) any printing or typographical errors in any materials associated with the
Competition or (f) any delay, damage, non-receipt, lost, misrouted prize.

ii) Samsung shall not be liable for delay in delivery of prizes due to any reason whatsoever.
Samsung disclaims any and all liabilities associated with the same.

iii) Samsung has the right to cancel entries with incomplete information or illegal contents
(such as statements of a racist, sexist or defamatory nature) or statements glorifying
violence which could be construed as deriding or insulting or similarly offending specific
individuals or groups etc.

iv) The prize cannot be exchanged with any product or item, is non-transferable under any
circumstances. Accessories, if any shown with the prize picture may not form part of gift
to be provided to the Participant(s). The decision of Samsung in respect to the prize shall
be final and no dispute shall be entertained in this regard.

v) Samsung shall not be liable for any loss or damage due to Act of God, Governmental
actions, other force majeure circumstances and shall not be liable to pay any amount as
compensation or otherwise for any such loss. All products/gifts are provided on an as-is
basis without any representations or warranties except for any “in-box” warranty provided,
in which case, standard manufacturer’s warranty, if any, shall be applicable for any
Samsung products provided pursuant to this Competition to any winning teams/their
schools/colleges etc as per the terms hereof. Any use or misuse of any prize shall be to the
sole account of the Participant .

11.3 Samsung reserves the absolute right to amend the Terms of the Competition or extend the
Competition Period or cancel or discontinue or suspend or terminate the Competition or any
part thereof at any time without giving any reasons or prior notice. Samsung reserves the right
to substitute the prize under this Competition, at its sole discretion. Samsung’s decision as to
color and model of Samsung products which may be provided for the relevant Participants or
final winners as per these terms and conditions shall be final and binding.

11.4 Competition shall be void in any state where prohibited by law. In such case, Samsung shall
not be liable to provide any free cash-back, gift(s) or compensation to the Participant on any
account.

11.5 Failure by Samsung to enforce any of its right at any stage does not constitute a waiver of
those rights.

11.6 In no event shall Samsung be liable for losses or any incidental or consequential damages
arising out of or in connection with the Competition, its services these Terms(however arising,
including negligence). Samsung shall not be responsible for any product or service liability of
any kind.

11.7 Competition is subject to validation, including without limitation, verification of eligibility


through checks as deemed appropriate by Samsung, Implementation Partner and complete
compliance with these Terms; Samsung reserves the right to verify the Participant(s)’s and/or
Product’s details either on its own or through its authorized agency / person and the
Participant(s) shall provide all necessary assistance in such verification. In exercising this
right, the Participant(s) may be required to provide any documentary or other form of evidence,
and if evidence does not establish the same then Samsung, in its sole discretion, will have the
right to disqualify the Participant(s).

11.8 Applicant/Participant acknowledge and agree that Samsung and/or Samsung authorised
partners that are entrusted by Samsung may collect, use, disclose, transfer and store their
personally identifiable data/ information in accordance with the Samsung’s Privacy Policy. It
is important that Applicant/Participant reads the Privacy Policy carefully.

11.9 Intellectual Property Rights:

All rights, title and interest including but not limited to the Intellectual Property Rights in the
promotional material(s) and any/all registrations received shall vest solely and exclusively
with Samsung at all times and Samsung shall be entitled to use the database of the entries
received or any information in any media for future promotional, marketing and publicity
purpose without any further reference or payment or compensation to Participant. Participant
shall be solely responsible for any consequences which may arise due to any kind of
infringement of copyrights or any kind of intellectual property rights belonging to any other
person/ entity etc. and also undertake to indemnify Samsung and its officers, directors,
employees etc on the happening of such an event (including without limitation cost of attorney,
legal charges etc.) on full indemnity basis.

11.10 Grant of License and Restrictions

i) Samsung hereby grants the Applicants a non-exclusive, non-transferable, limited,


personal and revocable right and license to access and use the relevant apps/portals
etc. in respect of the Program (“Service”) for the personal use only, provided that the
Applicants comply fully with these Terms. The Applicant’s access to the Service
islicensed, not sold. All references to the Service includes all related content, such as
text, graphics, user interfaces, scripts and software used to implement and provide
access to the Service, and any updates, upgrades, enhancements, modifications,
revisions or additions to the Service made available by Samsung. The Applicants
acknowledge and agree that some of the functionalities or services offered by the
Service may be provided by Samsung’s affiliates or subcontractors/ authorised
partners on behalf of Samsung.

ii) Participating in the Competition requires Applicant’s device to have access to the

Internet via mobile network or WiFi (fees may apply) to access the website of
Samsung Solve for Tomorrow (www.samsung.com/in/solvefortomorrow). Because
participating in the Competition involves hardware, software, Internet access and
applicable updates, Samsung shall not be responsible or liable for any failure to
participate on account of any of these factors. Applicant acknowledges and agrees that
complying with such system requirements, which may be changed from time to time,
is its responsibility. Applicant hereby consents to receive notices, disclosures and
other communications regarding the Competition via email, SMS, in-application
messages and other communications.

iii) Applicant shall not interfere or attempt to interfere with app/portal/website relevant
for the Program in any way through any means or device including, but not limited to,
spamming, hacking, and uploading computer viruses or time bombs, or any other
means. The Applicant may not use the Service for commercial purposes or for any
purpose that is unlawful or prohibited by the Terms. The Applicants are specifically
prohibited from using the Service in connection with any contents, services, programs
or applications that (i) are in violation of any third party’s rights, including but not
limited to intellectual property rights; or (ii) contain viruses or other harmful software,
code or other malwares that impact or limit the functions or services provided by the
Service or the devices supporting the Service.

iv) The Applicant shall not reverse-engineer, copy, decompile, disassemble, derive the
source code of, modify, adapt, capture, reproduce, publicly display, publicly perform,
transfer, sell, license, create derivative works from or based upon, republish, upload,
edit, post, transmit, distribute, exploit, circumvent or otherwise translate (or encourage
or assist any other person to do any of the foregoing) the Service in whole or in part.

v) Samsung, in its sole discretion and without notice to the Applicants, may immediately
(i) suspend or terminate the use of Service of Applicants; (ii) terminate the licenses
granted hereunder; and/or (iii) preclude access to the Service.

11.11 Jurisdiction:

Decision of Samsung in relation to the Competition and matter incidental thereto shall be final
and binding on the Applicants and Participants. All disputes shall be governed by the laws of
India. These Terms shall be governed by exclusive laws of India and the courts located at New
Delhi shall have the exclusive jurisdiction in respect of all the subject matter with relation to
the Competition.
