Welcome to the MRL2601 Examination site.

1. ESSENTIAL TIPS
The university has compiled some essential tips to help you succeed in the examinations
ahead.

2. EXAMINATION INFORMATION
2.1 FORMAT OF EXAMINATION

The MRL2601 Examination is an "open book" take-home examination that is proctored using
the Invigilator App.

• You are required to scan the Invigilator App QR Code on the day of the exam
between 7h45am and 8h30am.
• Any problems with the Invigilator App should be reported TO THE INVIGILATOR APP
TECHNICAL HELPDESK by sending a WhatsApp message to the technical helpdesk
number on 073 505 8273 (DO NOT CALL THE NUMBER OR CONTACT THE LECTURERS).

2.2 EXAMINATION RULES


Read the Unisa Online Examination Rules.

3. PROCTORING
3.1 INVIGILATOR APP
• You must use the Invigilator App for this examination. Please visit the Apple App Store,
Google Play or Huawei App Gallery, search for “The Invigilator” and download, install
and register at least 72 hours before your first scheduled exam.
• If already registered, ensure that your app is updated at least 24 hours before your
scheduled exam. For additional information, click on this link.
• Prepare yourself by reading the Invigilator User Guide, watch an 7 minute 21
second video and by participating in the mock examination.
• The QR code for the MRL2601 Exam is available below (and under Announcements)
and will also be made available on the Exam Question Paper.
4. SUBMISSION
Please note that Students typing or writing their answers by hand, scanning same and creating a
PDF version of same can click on the following for resources that may assist: Technical resources
for online exams
4.1 myEXAMS
Even though your Unisa timetable indicates that your examination session ends at 12h00pm
(SAST) on 27 May 2025, the submission portal on the myExams platform will remain open for an
additional 30 minutes until 12h30pm (SAST). The submission process must have been
FINALISED BEFORE the expiry of this period.

The 30-minute submission period is for submission purposes ONLY and may NOT be used for
writing. There will be no assistance for students who fail to FINALISE their
submission BEFORE 12h30pm.

4.2 CONTINGENCY LINK


Please note that the contingency link (also known as the tinyurl) will NOT be made available
for this exam.

4.3 INVIGILATOR APP


You will have 48 hours from the date of their examination to upload your already-
saved invigilator results on the Invigilator App. Failure to do so will result in a student deemed
not to have utilised the invigilation or proctoring tools.

4.4 EMAILED SUBMISSIONS


Emailed submissions will NOT be processed.

5. NO SUBMISSION
If you do not submit an answer file within the scheduled session time on the day of the
examination, you will be marked as absent.

Undergraduate students:
A student who registered for 2025 semester 1 and who is either absent for or fails the
Examination will automatically receive a supplementary exam.
A supplementary or aegrotat student who is either absent or fails the Examination will have
no further opportunity and will have to re-register the module.

5.1 LOADSHEDDING
Since the load shedding schedules are pre-published, you are encouraged to make alternative
arrangements so that you are able to submit your exam file on time. We also cannot assist with
power outages as that is beyond the University's control.

5.2 TECHNICAL ISSUES


Unisa does not accept responsibility for technical or network challenges relating to your internet
access. The onus is on you to take the matter up with your respective Internet Service Providers.

6. COMMUNICATION
Please use your myLife email account when communicating with us. Emails sent
from private, or work email addresses will NOT be responded to.

6.1 STUDENT COMMUNICATION SERVICE CENTRE (SCSC)


The Unisa Student Communication Centre is open from 08:00 - 19:00 Monday to Friday,
and 08:00 – 14:00 (SAST) on Saturdays.
The contact details for the SCSC are as follows:
0800 00 1870 option 4 (Exams) or email [email protected]. In your communication
with the SCSC, please include:
• Your student number.
• Your module course code.
• Name of the college.
• Name of the Lecturer (if known).
• A description of the problem, include the internet browser you are using, and its
version (if known).
• Include a print screen of the problem.
• The date and approximate time of your submission OR occurrence of an issue.

6.2 COLLEGE OF LAW EXAM MAILBOX


Non-Invigilator App-related queries during the MRL2601 exam must be directed

6.3 INVIGILATOR APP


Send a WhatsApp TEXT message to the technical helpdesk on 073 505 8273. DO NOT CALL THE
NUMBER!
DO NOT contact the lecturers for Invigilator App-related challenges as we are unable to
assist.
