‘Sure. What do we need to buy?’ asks Dad.

‘Emma, can you go and check?’ says Mum.

‘Of course, Mum,’ replies Emma. She opens the fridge. ‘Hmm … I think
we need some eggs. Grandma and Grandpa like omelettes. Let’s buy
a box of mushrooms to make them too.’

‘OK. We don’t need to buy any eggs because Aunt Evelyn gets a lot of
eggs from visiting farms. She can give us some,’ says Mum.

‘And don’t forget to buy a jar of nuts. Aunt Evelyn likes them,’ says Dad.

‘Yes,’ says Mum, ‘Let’s make some tarts for Grandma and Grandpa.
There’s a recipe in a cookbook and I’d like to have a try.’

‘Hooray!’ the children are excited.

‘Are there any biscuits for Buddy in the cupboard?’ asks Ryan.

‘Woof! Woof!’ Buddy wags his tail.

‘No, there aren’t any. Let’s buy a bag of biscuits,’ says Mum. ‘And is
there anything for breakfast tomorrow?’

‘I’m afraid no,’ answers Dad. ‘Let’s buy a loaf of bread and a packet of
ham when we go shopping.’

Let me tell you about my new friend Lucas. He’s from Australia. He

doesn’t mind. We attend football training classes together from
3 to 5 p.m. every Sunday afternoon. He’s very good at playing

we meet. I think he can give an English speech at English Week in

as the food we like and the games we play. Now he’s a big fan of
fish balls and egg tarts! He says he can eat a box of tarts at a time! I
also teach him how to say them in Chinese. He finds it really funny.
