WHAT IS LANGUAGE?
All human beings communicate by means of language, and the use of language
in the basis of all human activities including education.
ASSESSMENT
Assessment is the systematic basis for making inferences about the learning and
development of students.

The listening stimuli: It should represent typical oral language i.e. the material
should model language students typically heard in real life.
The questions: the questions should focus on the most important aspects of the
passage and measure skills for particular domain.

i) Imitative: The ability of basic task like writing alphabet, words and very
short sentences.
ii) Intensive (controlled): Writing correct words in context and correct
grammatical features in sentence writing.
iii) Responsive: Strong emphasis on context and meaning. In this type,
writer is more concerned about discourse.
iv) Extensive: Writer focuses on achieving a purpose through organizing
ideas logically and employing varieties of syntactic and lexical forms.

- Assessing all four skills provides a holistic view of the students language
proficiency.
- Understanding the students strength and weakness helps educators to adjust
their teaching methods and materials based on assessment results.
