4.1 Introduction
This Section of Report pertains to priliminary design of Cast-in Situ post tensioned five span
continuous box girders in Etihad Rail Project. The superstructure will be integral with the portal
beam which caters 1 tracks typically. Loads from the portal beam are transferred to the pier thorugh
mechanical bearings
Priliminary design of structure is performed for 2x35m to be on conservative side. Design is done
using the standards recommended in AREMA Code.

Recommended Liveload for the design of supersrtuctre as per AREMA code is Cooper E80 with axle loads and spacing
as given below. For details of E80 vehicle Cl:2.2.3 (c) of AREMA Code can be referred
