Η ΤΟΥΑΛΕΤΤΑ ΤΟΥ
Ο Βασιλεύς Γεώργιος ήτο πάντοτε άμεμπτος εις όλα.
Ιδιαιτέρως επεμελείτο τον μύστακα του, το οποίον καθίστατο
τοιουτοτρόπως μεγαλοπρεπέστατον.
Αλλά και εις το ξύρισμά του ήτο άμεμπτος, καθώς και εις το
κούρευμα της κεφαλής του. Εις τους κουρείς του ήτο
περιποιητικώτατος και υπερβολικά ευγενής και λεπτός.
Δύο ήσαν οι κουρείς του ο Ιω. Γκίκιρης και ο Μυτηληναίος.
Εις τον Γκίκιρην όταν εγήρασεν απένειμε σύνταξιν, ήτις τω
εδίδετο εκ του βασιλικού ταμείου. Κατά την ομολογίαν και
των δύο αυτών κουρέων η εν γένει τουαλέττα του Βασιλέως
ήτο τελεία και άμεμπτος.
ΤΕΛΕΙΟΣ ΟΙΚΟΓΕΝΕΙΑΡΧΗΣ
Ο Βασιλεύς όταν οι βασιλόπαιδες ήσαν μικροί συνέτρωγε
την μεν μεσημβρίαν μόνον με την Βασίλισσαν, το δε εσπέρας
μετά του Αυλάρχου και του Υπασπιστού του. Ότε όμως
εμεγάλωσαν οι πρίγκηπες, τότε και την μεσημβρίαν και το
εσπέρας συνέτρωγε με όλην του την οικογένειαν.
ΤΑ ΒΑΣΙΛΙΚΑ ΓΕΥΜΑΤΑ
Ως γνωστόν εκάστην πρωίαν ο αρχιμάγειρος των
ανακτόρων ήτο υποχρεωμένος να παρουσιάζη εις την Α. Μ.
τον κατάλογον των φαγητών της ημέρας, εκ του καταλόγου
εκείνου διέγραφεν η Α. Μ. το φαγητόν εκείνο το οποίον δεν
ήθελεν.
Η Βασίλισσα είχεν ιδιαίτερον μενού κατά τας τεσσαρακοστάς.
Την πρώτην και την τελευταίαν εβδομάδα ενήστευε το κρέας
περιοριζομένη εις λαδερά φαγητά. Την μεγάλην εβδομάδα
ενήστευε και το λάδι. Εκ των άλλων εβδομάδων της Μ.
Τεσσαρακοστής ετήρει τακτικωτάτην νηστείαν εκάστην
Τετάρτην και Παρασκευήν.
Η ΒΑΣΙΛΙΚΗ ΣΑΛΑΤΑ
ΟΙ ΚΑΦΕΔΕΣ ΤΟΥ
ΥΠΟ ΙΝΚΟΓΝΙΤΟ
Περιοδεύων ανά τας Ευρωπαϊκάς πρωτευούσας ηρέσκετο να
εξέρχεται εντελώς του βασιλικού του αξιώματος. Διήρχετο
τας κεντρικάς λεωφόρους και τα βουλεβάρτα φέρων απλήν
περιβολήν ιδιώτου και ανεμιγνύετο με το πλήθος ως κοινός
θνητός. Αυτό ήτο μία από τας μεγαλειτέρας του
ευχαριστήσεις.
