GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS:
1.The Question Paper shall consist of 5 Sections A, B, C, D and E.
2.Section A - 20 MCQs carrying 1 mark each.
3.Section B - 5 questions carrying 02 marks each.
4.Section C - 6 questions carrying 03 marks each.
5.Section D - 4 questions carrying 05 marks each.
6.Section E has 3 case based integrated units of assessment (04 marks each) with sub-parts of the values of
1, 1 and 2 marks each respectively.
7. Last two questions of Section A (Q19 and Q20) are Assertion-Reason based questions.
8. An internal choice in 2 Questions of 5 marks, 2 Questions of 3 marks and 2 Questions of 2 marks has
been provided. An internal choice has been provided in the 2 marks questions of each case based question
of Section E.

26. Prove that 3+ √2 is irrational number, given that √2 is an irrational number. 3
27. If α and β are zeroes of the quadratic polynomial 4x2+4x+1, then find quadratic 3
polynomial whose zeroes are 2α and 2β.
28. A number consists of two digits. Where the number is divided by the sum of its digits, the 3
quotient is 7. If 27 is subtracted from the number, the digits interchange their places,
find the number.

30. In the given figure, XY and X'Y' are two parallel tangents to a circle with centre O and another 3
tangent AB with point of contact C, is intersecting XY at A and X'Y' at B. Prove that
∠ AOB = 90∘.
31. A bag contains 5 red balls and some blue balls. If the probability of drawing a blue ball from 3
the bag is thrice that of a red ball. Find the number of blue balls in the bag.

SECTION D
32. The speed of a boat in still water is 15 km/hr. It goes 30 km upstream and returns back at the 5
same point in 4 hours 30 minutes. Find the speed of the stream.
OR
A motorboat whose speed in still water is 18 km/h, takes 1 hour more to go 24 km upstream
than to return downstream to the same spot. Find the speed of the stream.
33. (a) State and prove BPT. 5
(b) In the figure, ABC and AMP are two right triangles, right angled at B and M respectively,
prove that:
34. A tent is in the shape of a cylinder surmounted by a conical top. If the height and diameter of 5
the cylindrical part are 2.1 m and 4 m respectively, and the slant height of the top is 2.8 m, find
the area of the canvas used for making the tent. Also, find the cost of the canvas of the tent at
the rate of Rs 500 per m2
. (Note that the base of the tent will not be covered with canvas.)
OR
A gulab jamun contains sugar syrup up to about 30% of its volume. Find approximately how
much syrup would be found in 45 gulab jamuns, each shaped like a cylinder with two
hemispherical ends with length 5 cm and diameter 2.8 cm.

35. If the median of the distribution given below is 28.5, find the values of x and y.
SECTION E
36. India is competitive manufacturing location due to the low cost of manpower and strong
technical and engineering capabilities contributing to higher quality production runs. The
production of TV sets in a factory increases uniformly by a fixed number every year. It
produced 16000 sets in 6th year and 22600 in 9th year.

Jagdish has a field which is in the shape of a right angled triangle AQC. He wants to leave
a space in the form of a square PQRS inside the field from growing wheat and the
remaining for growing vegetables (as shown in the figure). In the field, there is a pole
marked as O.
Based on the above information, answer the following questions:
(i) Taking O as origin, coordinates of P are (–200, 0) and of Q are (200, 0). PQRS being a 1
square, what are the coordinates of R and S?
(ii) (a) What is the area of square PQRS ? 1

(b) What is the length of diagonal PR in square PQRS?
(iii)If S divides CA in the ratio K : 1, what is the value of K, where point A is (200, 800) ? 2
38. A group of students of class X visited India Gate on an education trip. The teacher and students
had interest in history as well. The teacher narrated that India Gate, official name Delhi
Memorial, originally called All-India War Memorial, monumental sandstone arch in New
Delhi, dedicated to the troops of British India who died in wars fought between 1914 and 1919.
The teacher also said that India Gate, which is located at the eastern end of the Rajpath
(formerly called the Kingsway), is about 138 feet (42 metres) in height.
i. What is the angle of elevation if they are standing at a distance of 42m away from the 1
monument?
ii. The ratio of the length of a rod and its shadow is 1:1 .Find the angle of elevation of the Sun. 1
iii. They want to see the tower at an angle of 60. So, they want to know the distance where they 2
should stand and hence find the distance.
OR
If the altitude of the Sun is at 60, then find the height of the vertical tower that will cast a
shadow of length 20 m.
