一、 作者简介
作者简介： (美国）莱曼·弗兰克·鲍姆著 (1856—1919） 美国儿童文学作家。生于纽约州。父亲是个桶匠，后来到宾夕法尼亚州开采石油并发了

Lyman Frankie Baume is an American author of children's Literature (1856 -- 1919) . Born in New
York state. His father was a cobbler who came to Pennsylvania to drill for oil and make a fortune. Baume's
childhood was spent on his father's estate, where he grew up frail and under the special care of his family.
His fascination with fairy tales and fantasy reached almost the level of a "daydream, " and his parents,
worried that it would affect his character development, decided to send him to military school. The rigors
of military school did not improve his character, but only led to a nervous breakdown. His parents had to
take him home from military school and leave him to develop his interests. One night, as he was telling his
sons a story, he was struck by an idea he had never seen before. As he coaxed the children to calm down,
he grabbed a piece of paper that he could write on and excitedly wrote down the idea. This is the story of
Emerald City, the original idea for the story of the Land of Oz expedition. In 1900, at The age of 45,
Baume wrote The The Wizard of Oz of Oz. The first edition was also illustrated by Dunslow. Its printing
can be compared with the book of Father Goose. The Wizard of Oz is the first acclaimed 20th century fairy
tale in American children's literature and has been in circulation since its publication.

Dorothy and her dog Toto live happily with Dorothy’s aunt until, one day, a great storm whisks
Dorothy and Toto, along with their house, off to a faraway place. The house lands on, and kills, the Bad
Witch of the East, but Dorothy is just eager to get home. The Good Witch tells her that only the wise old
Wizard of Oz is able to get her back to her family. Dorothy and Toto set off along the yellow road to the
Wizard. They meet a brainless scarecrow, a heartless tin-man and a cowardly lion on the way and all three
decide to ask the Wizard to solve their problems too. Before the Wizard will grant their wishes, however,
they have to kill the Bad Witch of the West, which Dorothy finally manages to do, thus making all their
wishes come true. The Oz story has become a classic because it blends elements of traditional magic, such
as witches, a Kansas cyclone, a scarecrow, and a man made of tin. In the end, Dorothy and her animals got
what they need.We--viewers--also finish our wonderful tour and realize the dreams.

1、多萝茜

After reading this wonderful story, I can feel love, brave, deep friendship and some
other good spirits in the people.
The Scarecrow wanted a brain, but on the way to the Emerald City, he thought out of
a way to cross the river. The Cowardly Lion wanted to be brave, but when they met the
river, he carried other friends to jump across it. And the Tin Man wanted a heart, he said
he couldn’t love, but he didn’t want to hurt any animal.
In fact, they all have the things they want: the Scarecrow is clever, the Cowardly Lion
is brave and the Tin Man is kind-hearted.
 No matter where we are, home is always the best place for us to rest or study. There
are our parents here; there are also our favorite things here. At home, we feel safe, we feel
comfortable, and we can relax ourselves.
We also learn that teamwork is important for us. When we are in trouble, we can ask
our friends for help, and also, when our friends need help, we should go and help them.
Just remember, more people, more power. It’s always better has more people to do a thing.
Teamwork is really necessary in our lives.
