What is Fish Preservation
-Fish preservation is the process of keeping fish fresh
for a longer time.

-It prevents spoilage and ensures the fish is safe to eat.


Common Causes of Fish Spoilage
Bacteria Growth: Happens when fish are not stored
properly.
Enzymatic Action: Natural chemicals in fish that break
down its quality.
Oxidation: Fats in fish react with air, causing bad smell
or taste.
Environmental Factors: High temperature, poor storage,
or dirty handling.

SALTING- The process of rubbing or


soaking fish in salt to remove
moisture and prevent the growth of
bacteria. Salt draws out the water,
creating an environment where
bacteria cannot thrive, thus extending
the fish's shelf life.

exposing fish to smoke from burning
wood or other materials. The smoke
not only dries the fish but also

FREEZING- Fish is cooled to

and flavor of the fish. It is the most
widely used method for long-term
preservation.

in airtight containers, like tins or jars,
which are then sterilized through heat
to kill bacteria. This method ensures a
