Class - 8 Maths Activity-2

The document outlines an activity to demonstrate the angle sum property of a quadrilateral, aiming to find that the sum of its angles is 360°. It requires materials like chart paper, scissors, and coloring tools, and involves drawing, cutting, and pasting quadrilaterals to visually verify the concept. Pre-acquired knowledge includes understanding quadrilaterals and the sum of angles in triangles.

ACTIVITY 8

TOPIC: Angle sum property of a quadrilateral

OBJECTIVE: To find the sum of the angles of a quadrilateral.
PRE-ACQUIRED KNOWLEDGE:
1. Concept of a quadrilateral.
2. Concept of the angles of a quadrilateral.
3. Concept of a complete angle.
4. Knowledge of the sum of the angles of a triangle.
MATERIALS REQUIRED:
1. A white chart
paper
2. A pencil
3. An eraser
4. Sketch pens
5. A pair of scissors
6. A card board
7. Fevistick
PREPARATION FOR THE ACTIVITY:
1. Draw two
congruent quadrilaterals on the white chart paper.
[Fig. 8.1,
Fig. 8.2]
2. Label the vertices of the
angles of both the quadrilaterals as A, B, C and D
as shown in
figures.
3. Colour the angles of both the
shown in Fig. 8.1 and Fig. 8.2.
quadrilaterals with different colours as

DEMONSTRATION:
1. Cut out these
quadrilaterals and paste one of them as shown in Fig. 8.1
on the cardboard.
2. Cut out the angles of the other
3. Mark any point O on the cardboard.
quadrilateral.
4. Paste all the four cut out
angles in such a way that the vertices of these
angles are at the marked point and they form

These angles form a complete angle at the point O.
or ZA + B + 2C + 2D = 360°
Thus we have verified:
"The sum of all the angles of a
quadrilateral is 360°."
