Time allowed: 03 Hours Maximum Marks: 80
General Instructions:

i. Question paper comprises five Sections – A, B, C, D and E. There are 37 questions in the question
paper. All questions are compulsory.
ii. Section A – From question 1 to 20 are MCQs of 1 mark each.
iii. Section B – Question no. 21 to 24 are Very Short Answer Type Questions, carrying 2 marks each.
Answers to each question should not exceed 40 words.
iv. Section C contains Q.25to Q.29 are Short Answer Type Questions, carrying 3 marks each.
Answer to each question should not exceed 60 words
v. Section D – Question no. 30 to 33 are long answer type questions, carrying 5 marks each.
Answers to each question should not exceed 120 words.
vi. Section-E - Questions no from 34 to 36 are case based questions with three sub questions and are
of 4 marks each
vii. Section F – Question no. 37 is map based, carrying 5 marks with two parts, 37a from History
(2 marks) and 37b from Geography (3 marks).
viii. There is no overall choice in the question paper. However, an internal choice has been provided
in a few questions. Only one of the choices in such questions have to be attempted.
ix. In addition to this, separate instructions are given with each section and question, wherever
necessary.

The pressure and wind conditions over India are unique. During winter, there is a =5
high-pressure area north of the Himalayas. Cold dry winds blow from this region to
the low-pressure areas over the oceans to the south. In summer, a low-pressure
area develops over interior Asia, as well as, over northwestern India. This causes a
complete reversal of the direction of winds during summer. Air moves from the
high-pressure area over the southern Indian Ocean, in a south-easterly direction,
crosses the equator, and turns right towards the low-pressure areas over the
Indian subcontinent. These are known as the Southwest Monsoon winds. These
winds blow over the warm oceans, gather moisture and bring widespread rainfall
over the mainland of India.

Q.34 Poverty has certainly declined in India. But despite the progress, poverty reduction 4
remains India’s most compelling challenge. Wide disparities in poverty are visible
between rural and urban areas and among different states. Certain social and economic
groups are more vulnerable to poverty. Poverty reduction is expected to make better
progress in the next ten to fifteen years. This would be possible mainly due to higher
economic growth and increasing stress on universal free elementary education,
declining population growth and increasing empowerment of women and the
economically weaker sections of society.

Q.36 The Constituent Assembly worked in a systematic, open and consensual manner. First, 4
some basic principles were decided and agreed upon. Then a Drafting Committee
chaired by Dr. B.R. Ambedkar prepared a draft constitution for discussion. Several
rounds of thorough discussion took place on the Draft Constitution, clause by clause.
More than two .thousand amendments were considered. The members deliberated for
