Ramnik Singh-5022992292

The document is a medical report for patient Mr. Ramnik Singh, detailing the results of various serology tests conducted on May 8, 2025. The tests for Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, HIV, and Syphilis returned non-reactive results, indicating no detectable antibodies for these infections. Interpretations provided emphasize the importance of confirmatory testing for positive results and the potential for false positives or negatives in certain conditions.

HBSAG Serology
Hepatitis µB¶Surface Antigen (Australia : NON-REACTIVE NON REACTIVE
antigen)
Done by : Rapid Card Method
Rapid Card Method

Interpretation :
HBsAg appears one to ten weeks (commonly 4 weeks) after exposure to Hepatitis B Virus. It persists during acute illness and
disappears 12-20 weeks after the onset of symptoms.
Antigenic persistence beyond 6 months indicates a chronic illness or carrier state.
A negative result indicates that the tested sample does not contain detectable HBsAg. However, if HBsAg could not be detected
due to very low titre, such a result does not preclude the possibility of exposure to an infection by the HBV.
A false positive result may occur due to presence of certain other cross reactive antigens or rarely with elevated levels of
Rheumatoid factor.

HCV SEROLOGY
Rapid Test for Hepatitis C Antibody (Anti- : NON REACTIVE Non Reactive
HCV)
Interpretation :
Technology: Immuno chromatographic.
Interpretation:
Anti HCV antibody test is a screening test and is being performed using immune chromatographic, one step assay designed for
qualitative determination of Anti HCV antibodies . A positive report does not confirm diagnosis and all positive cases should be
confirmed by confirmatory test like ELISA and PCR.
Clinical Significance:
Hepatitis C Virus (HCV) is now recognized as the primary cause of transfusion-associated Non-A, Non-B Hepatitis. The
biochemical changes occurring in a Hepatitis C Virus-infected person are increased levels of serum transaminases. The acute
presentation of HCV infection is generally mild, often clinically asymptomatic, with only 10-25% of patients developing jaundice,
greater than 50% of infected individuals go on to develop chronic hepatitis with serious and possibly life threatening sequel
such as cirrhosis and Hepatocellular Carcinoma.

HIV 1+2 Serology

RAPID TEST FOR HIV 1+2: : NON REACTIVE

Interpretation :
This tests the presence of the antibodies to HIV 1 & HIV 2 in serum or plasma. The production of the

antibodies as an immune response against HIV takes about 3-12 weeks (seroconversion). The gap

between infection and seroconversion is the window period during the this period ELISA test will be

negative .The window period usually does not exceed 3 months .Detection of HIV 1 antibodies is the

most common and efficient method of determining whether and individual have been infected with the

virus .The ELISA/RAPID technique have the sensitivities and specificities of 96%.False positive result can occur

when the test are performed before seroconversion ,when the patient is immunosuppressed and rarely
late in the course of AIDS.

NEGATIVE : Implies that no HIV-1 or HIV-2 antibodies have been detected in the sample by this

method. This means that either the patient has not been exposed to HIV-1 or HIV-2 infection or the
sample has been tested during the window phase.

Provisionally Reactive/Borderline Reactive: Suggests the possibility of HIV-1 and/or HIV-2 infection.

The test has to be verified by the confirmatory Western Blot Test

V.D.R.L. Serology
VDRL (SYPHILIS AB RAPID TEST) : Non-Reactive Non-Reactive
Interpretation :
A VDRL test, or Venereal Disease Research Laboratory test, is a blood test that screens for syphilis. The results of a VDRL test can
be interpreted as follows:
Negative

A negative result means that no syphilis antibodies were detected in the blood sample. This is the normal result.
Positive
A positive result means that syphilis antibodies were detected in the blood sample, and you may have syphilis. However, a
positive result doesn't necessarily mean you have syphilis. A more specific test, like an FTA-ABS test, is needed to confirm the
results.
The VDRL test's ability to detect syphilis depends on the stage of the disease. It's most sensitive during the secondary and latent
stages, and less sensitive during the earlier and later stages. In the early stages of syphilis, the test may give a false-negative
result.
Some conditions can cause a false-positive VDRL test, including: HIV/AIDS, Lyme disease, Certain types of pneumonia, Malaria,
and Systemic lupus erythematosus.
Different laboratories may have slightly different normal value ranges. You should talk to your provider about the meaning of
your specific test results.
