4 1 General Information

1.1 Requirements

1.1.1 Applicability and Purpose

Installation and startup of the DICOM MPPS + SC (ExamWorks+) option in the FLUORO‐
SPOT T.O.P., POLYTRON T.O.P. systems and systems with AXIOM Artis are described in
this document.
With the DICOM Modality Performed Procedure Step (MPPS), progress of the examination
in the modality is reported to the RIS and data such as the dose area product can be trans‐
ferred to the RIS. With the DICOM Storage Commitment (SC) it is assured that DICOM im‐
ages will be reliably saved in the image archive.
Images to be archived are sent from the image system to ExamWorks+. ExamWorks+ han‐
dles archiving and saves the images until archiving has been successfully completed.
Additional patient data (e.g. dose data) can be entered in the ExamWorks+ via the
touchscreen monitor.
The keyboard that is included in the shipment is connected exclusively for service and
configuration purposes. After completing these work steps, the keyboard must be re‐
moved.

1.1.5 Room Preparations

n A power line outlet must be installed in a radius of 1.5 m from the installation loca‐
tion. Since the ExamWorks+ is switched off only in a service situation, connection to
line power may not be made in the control room distributor.
n Have the RJ45 Ethernet connection cable ready at the setup location.

1.1.7 Safety Information

When carrying out the work steps and checks, the general safety information for medical
products must be observed.

1.1.8 Product-specific Remarks

Checking the Cabling and Power Connection
n For safety reasons, the power connection may only be made by a SIEMENS technician/
electrician.
n Cabling must also be checked by the SIEMENS technician prior to switching on the sys‐
tem.

1.2 Service
n The “Installation and Service Manual” from the Merge Company is included in the ship‐
ment as a service document.
n In an error situation, the complete ExamWorks+ must be replaced.
n Contact with Merge should be made only through HSC.

n Install the desktop stand included in the shipment according to the accompanying in‐
stallation instructions.
n Set up the ExamWorks+ per the Project Plan. As a rule, the ExamWorks+ is set up in
the control room within easy reach of the operator. Make sure that there is sufficient
space left for the ventilation slots (> 15 cm).
n Provide a power supply ( 1/Fig. 2 Page 7).
n Plug in the Ethernet cable ( 2/Fig. 2 Page 7).
n Snap the rear cover panel onto the desktop stand.

4.1 General Remarks

The ExamWorks+ Service Script is a configuration interface with help files to assist you in
understanding the information required for a given field. The Service Script configures
the following:
n User interface language
n Network
n Time and Date
n DICOM inputs and outputs
n Workflow, including MWL and MPPS

4.1.1 Network Configuration

This section explains how to configure the ExamWorks+ network parameters such as stat‐
ic IP address and netmask. Contact the on-site system administrator for IP Address, Net‐
mask, Host name, and related network information.

4.1.2 Accessing the Network Configurator

To access the Network Configurator, select Perform Network Configuration from the Serv‐
ice Script.

4.2.2 Service Login

n Apply power to the ExamWorks+ unit.
n Select the <Utils> tab.
n Select the <Exit to Service> button.
n Type the following password.

n Press <Ctrl> + <Alt> + <Backspace> on the keyboard to exit to the LINUX command
line prompt.

The Main Menu for the ExamWorks service interface displays. The ExamWorks+ is now
ready to be configured.
n From the Main Menu for the ExamWorks Service Interface, select <1> ↵ Configure
System.
n Type the following password.

To navigate the Network Configurator, use the keyboard <Tab> key to move among the
fields and functions. Use the <Up Arrow> and <Down Arrow> keys to move through op‐

 tions in a group or list. Press the <Enter> or <Return> key to select the highlighted field,
function, or option.
Enter a question mark (?) to view help for any given prompt in the Service Script.

n Set Adaptor 1 to Enabled. An X in the bracket [] field to the left of Enabled indicates
that the adaptor is enabled.
n Set Config mode to Manual. An o in the bracket (o) field indicates that the Config
mode is Manual.
n Enter the Primary Name + Domain ( Configuration Data: ExamWorks+ / Page 12).
The Primary Name and the Host name must be the same (e.g.: acomtdf77.med.sie‐
mens.de).
n Enter an Aliases name (Option)
n Enter IP adress in the IP address field ( Configuration Data: ExamWorks+ / Page 12).
n Enter a netmask in the Netmask field ( Configuration Data: ExamWorks+ / Page 12).
n The Net Device field is pre-configured. Do not change this field.
n Select <Accept> ↵ to complete the settings.
- Use the keyboard <Tab> key to move among the fields.

4.2.5.2 Name Server Specification (Optional)

This fields needs to be filled in only if a DNS server is configured.

The LINUX date command sets the time and date. For more information on the LINUX
date command, enter <man date> ↵ at a LINUX shell prompt.
Display or set the date UCT (universal) time. At command prompt.
n Enter <quit> ↵
n Enter <date MMddhhmmyyyy.ss> ↵

MM = Numeric month, a number from 1 to 12

dd = Day, a number from 01 to 31
hh = Hour, a number from 00 to 23
mm = Minutes, a number from 00 to 59
yyyy = Year, such as 2001
.ss = Seconds, a number from 00 to 61 (59 plus a maximum of two leap sec‐
onds)
n Exit the Time and Date configuration with <quit> ↵ and <exit> ↵.

4.2.12 Save the Configuration

n Insert an empty MS-DOS formatted floppy disk into the floppy drive. It is shipped
along with the system.
n Press enter to backup the configuration file.
n Store the backup configuration file in a safe place.
n Reboot the ExamWorks+.

 You must reboot the ExamWorks+ after making changes to the configuration. Rebooting
the ExamWorks+ ensures proper memory allocation and information distribution.

4.2.13 ExamWorks+ Shutdown from GUI (Graphic User Interface)

5.1 Function Test

HIS/RIS System
n Create a test patient in the HIS/RIS system.
AX System
n Request the patient list from the HIS/RIS system.
n Select a test patient and make an exposure.
n Send the images to the Examworks+ for archiving.
ExamWorks+

 The name of the buttons depends on the application language selected in the configura‐
tion.

n Select <Acquire> on the touchscreen monitor for the workstation.

n Select the test patient.
n The current worklist will be acquired from the HIS/RIS system by pressing the <done>
button.
n Select <Target>, the archiving destination must be online.
n Select <Acquire>.
n Select <check worklist>.
- The patient will appear under “Procedures in Progress”.
- The status of the patient must be: “Matches found”.
n Press <Use Exist>, the test patient will appear in the “Modality Worklist Information”
field.
n Enter the dose information.
n Press <completed>.
- The images will be sent to the selected target.
- The MPPS will be sent to the HIS/RIS.
n There will be no acknowledgement, and the Examworks+ is now ready for a new
transfer.
