END TERM EXAMINATION

SIXTH SEMESTER [B.TECH.] JUNE-2024
Paper Code: DA-304T Subject: Statistics, Statistical Modelling and Data Analytics

Time: 3 Hours Maximum Marks: 75

Note: Attempt five questions including Q.No.1 which is compulsory. Select one question
from each unit.

Q1(a) A garden contains 39 plants. The following plants were chosen at random, and their
heights were recorded in cm: 38, 51, 46, 79, and 57. Calculate their heights’ mean and
standard deviation. (3×5=15)

(b) Explain any two types of data visualization

(c) Two coins are tossed 500 times, and we get:

Two heads: 105 times

One head: 275 times

No head: 120 times

Find the probability of each event to occur.

(d) Find the variance of the following numbers -

4, 15, 10, 7, 6, 12, 18, 5, 8, 9
(e) Explain the terms null hypothesis, alternative hypothesis, critical region and critical
values
UNIT- I
Q2 A Telecom service provider claims that individual customers pay on an average 400 rs.
per month with standard deviation of 25 rs. A random sample of 50 customers bills during a
given month is taken with a mean of 250 and standard deviation of 15. What to say with
respect to the claim made by the service provider? (15)

Q3 a) Verify that (1, 2, -4) is a solution to the system of equations: (7.5)

2x1 + 2x2 + x3 = 2
x1 + 3x2 – x3 = 11
b) Find the probability of getting at least 5 times head-on tossing an unbiased coin for 6
times by using the binomial distribution. (7.5)

(b) What is the role of intercept in multiple linear regression equation (5)
(c) What are main assumptions required for the analysis of single factor ANOVA (5)

neither? (7.5)
(b) What are components and importance of Metric Spaces (7.5)
Q7 Explain the concept of open set and closed set with suitable example (15)
