ITEM 1

During a fieldwork trip to a nearby trading center, students from Senior One observed different
plant species, houses and different product sold in the market, and recorded the different
activities in the area.

b) Why do you think it was important for the students to physically visit the trading center
instead of just reading about it? (5 marks)
c) Suggest one way the students could have used maps during their fieldwork. (5 marks)

ITEM 2

A teacher showed a video of how different parts of the Earth experience day and night at
different times. The video also explained why we have seasons.

A farmer in Gulu City complains that her crops failed because of unexpected heavy rains during
the dry season. She blames changing weather patterns.

b) What weather elements should the farmer monitor regularly to improve her farming

A tourist from Canada is planning a trip to East Africa. He wants to visit Uganda, Kenya, and
Tanzania but is unsure of their exact location and size.
