Preparatory Steps

Remove the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) crossover tube. Refer to Procedure
011-070 in Section 11. (/qs3/pubsys2/xml/en/procedures/132/132-011-070-tr-
vqxi6.html)
Remove the rocker lever cover. Refer to Procedure 003-011 in Section 3.
(/qs3/pubsys2/xml/en/procedures/132/132-003-011-tr-vqxi6.html)

Remove
Use an internal Torx™ wrench to disconnect the engine brake wiring harness from
the solenoid.

Use a 5 mm wrench to remove the solenoid from the manifold.

Do not remove the two solenoid o-rings.

Inspect the o-rings for damage. If the o-rings can not be reused, replace the solenoid
assembly.
Inspect for Reuse
Measure the resistance of each solenoid with the wiring harness disconnected from
the solenoid.
Measure the resistance between the terminals, as indicated in the illustration.
Cold engine - 8 to 10 ohms
Hot engine - 16 to 20 ohms

Replace the solenoid if the measurements are not within specifications.

Inspect the engine brake wiring harness if the solenoids are within specifications.

Install
Lubricate the seal rings with clean engine oil.
Coat the inside of the manifold with oil.
Press the solenoid into the manifold.

Tighten the capscrew.

Torque Value: 13 n•m [ 115 in-lb ]
Connect the engine brake wiring harness to the solenoid.

Tighten the Torx™ nuts.

Torque Value: 2 n•m [ 18 in-lb ]

Finishing Steps
Install the rocker lever cover. Refer to Procedure 003-011 in Section 3.
(/qs3/pubsys2/xml/en/procedures/132/132-003-011-tr-vqxi6.html)
Install the EGR crossover tube. Refer to Procedure 011-070 in Section 11.
(/qs3/pubsys2/xml/en/procedures/132/132-011-070-tr-vqxi6.html)
Operate the engine and check for proper operation and leaks.
