Dinosaur Fossil Split Pin Craft
Follow the instructions to make your very own dinosaur fossil craft.
You will need:
• a piece of white A4 paper
• a printer (black and white or colour)
• scissors
• 2 paper plates
• a glue stick
• a split pin
• colouring pencils and pens
Instructions:
1. First, print off the template on the next page.
2. Next, carefully cut out both the circles and stick them into the centre of your paper plates.
3. Carefully cut along the line from the edge to the centre of each circle.
4. Layer the two paper plates so that the image of the fossil is underneath the other image.
5. Insert a split pin through the guide circle in the middle so that it goes through both plates.
You might need an adult to help you with this.
6. Overlap the two plates at the slit and then slowly rotate the top plate. You should be able
to see the creature beginning to turn into a fossil. If you spin the plate in the opposite
direction, the fossil should turn back into the creature.
7. Have a go at making one yourself – remember that the circles need to be the same size and
the images in a similar position to be really effective!
