DBHDS TDO Exception Report Summary

The attached tables display statewide data from the TDO exception reports submitted by CSBs.

The left side of each table displays the following data:

○ the numbers of crisis evaluations CSBs conducted each month
○ the numbers of executed (not issued) temporary detention orders (TDOs) resulting from those
evaluations,
○ the percent of evaluations those TDOs represent,
○ the total numbers of reportable events associated with those TDOs, and
○ the percent TDOs those reportable events represent.

The center part of each table displays the following data about reportable events (defined in table
footnotes) involving loss of custody events:
○ the total numbers of reportable events involving loss of custody,
○ the numbers of those events with an emergency custody order (ECO),
○ the numbers of those events without an ECO,
○ the numbers of those events with an TDO executed subsequently,
○ the numbers of those events in which the individual subsequently became engaged in outpatient
services, and
○ the numbers of those events in which the individual did not become engaged in services.

The right side of each table displays the following data about other reportable events that do not
involve a loss of custody:
○ the numbers of events involving medical treatment, and
○ the numbers of other events (defined in the table footnotes).

The Totals row reflects the relationship of the various types of reportable events. For example, in
the FY 2015 table, the 61 total reportable events included 36 events that involved a loss of custody,
17 medical treatment events, and 8 other events. The total 36 events that involved a loss of custody
included 12 with ECOs and 24 without ECOs and 23 with subsequent TDOs, 2 engaged in
outpatient services, and 11 never engaged.
