Is Metallica the epitome of metal??

There are many bands and factors deciding which is the greatest or the best
band, but the discussion today is how metallica became niche from all
other bands and how it made new metal sub genres come to the surface

Metallica have been in the metal scene for 44 years, from playing small
gigs in nightclubs at the san fransico bay area to playing the biggest
concert of all time in the monsters of rock festival in Moscow for over 1,6
million people just 10 years after their forming

Metallica have released 12 studio albums in their time those albums being:

1983: Kill 'Em All

Metallica's debut album, introducing their raw
and thrash sound but still identical to bands
like slayer and exodus

1984: Ride the Lightning

This sophomore release showcased their musical growth
and sound morph, with the second song off the album
the title track “Ride The Lightning” helping them become
their own niche with the harmonized guitars
on the intro and their soaring speed solos while containing
their soon to be signature dark song theme

1986: Master of Puppets

Considered one of their masterpieces, this album
includes tracks like “Orion” and “damage, inc”
which have harmonized bass something that until
then was unheard of while also having really
complex songs with a dark and heavy subject
but still being listenable, songs like these are:
The Thing That Should Not Be, Master of Puppets
Welcome home(sanitarium) and Disposable Heroes.
This was also the last album featuring Bassist Cliff Burton
Before he passed away in a bus accident in Sweden on 27/9/1986
1988: ...And Justice for All
Their complexity summit with songs featuring constant
time signature changes, raw and aggressive guitars,
face melting solos, drums on the verge of insanity with a
dense and loud bass drum and James’ voice having
gotten deeper while speaking about things like
Destruction of the earth (on the track blackened)
Rigged justice system (Title track, Eye of the beholder,
The shortest straw) someone losing their sanity(The frayed
ends of sanity) Effects of war on a solider(one) and careless
parents (dyers eve)

1991: Metallica (The Black Album)

This self-titled album marked a shift towards a more
mainstream sound, with hits like 'Enter Sandman' and
“nothing else matters” having them on top of the charts
helping them reach global fame with their songs played
on the radio

1996: Load
Exploring a more rock/country-oriented sound, 'Load' includes
tracks like 'Until It Sleeps' and 'King Nothing'.
Many people thought they fell off because they changed
their genre for the most part

1997: Reload
Serving as a companion to 'Load', this album features
mainstream songs like 'The Memory Remains' and 'Fuel'.What
some people may not know is that Load And Reload were
meant to be one album
2003: St. Anger
Distinctive for its raw production, keg sounding snare, it
is widely considered their worst album by many due to
its rough sound and unbearably long songs. Although
I personally like it I must say that it really isnt the best

2008: Death Magnetic

Marking a return to their thrash roots, this album made
many fans praise them for making an album that made them
sound better than their 3 previous albums while also containing
one of their best power ballads, the day that never comes. This
album also contained recordings from their current bassist,
Robert Trujillo

2016: Hardwired...To Self-Destruct

This double album debuted on top of the billboard
200 on its first week having sold 291 thousand album
units

2023: 72 Seasons
Their latest release, exploring themes of youth and growth
(72 seasons are equal to 18 years, when someone becomes
an adult) this album is considered by many their best since
their post black album era

Although Metallica are not the founders of metal(the title belongs to black sabbath)
they along with their fellow bay area bands such as, testament, exodus and possessed
Helped form the biggest genre after heavy metal known as thrash metal from which
other big subgenres such as Death metal, Power metal, Groove metal, Black metal
and alternative metal derived from
