Essay On My Country In English

The country, called the golden bird, is the oldest civilized country in the world. Science,
Mathematics, Medicine, Religion, Philosophy, Literature and Humanitarian Culture originated
from my country India.

My country India is a great country with Himalayas, Nepal in the north, Sri Lanka and Indian
Ocean in the south, Bay of Bengal, Bangladesh and Myanmar in the east, Arabian Sea and
Pakistan in the west. It extends from Jammu and Kashmir down to Kanyakumari.

Its culture is as old as it is also great, my country India taught the first lesson of peace and
non-violence in the world. In ancient times it is called Aryavarta, Hindustan, and Bharatvarsha
and presently it is also called ‘India’.

India has 29 states, eight union territories, and a national capital, Delhi. My country India is
known with respect and pride in the greatest nations of the world in the fields of knowledge,
science, technology, information and communication.

Geographical location and natural importance of India:


Geographical India is a vast sub-continent. In the region, India is a large country located in
the Northern Hemisphere in the world map. Its length from north to south is 3214 km and its
length from east to west is 2933 km. Its area is 32,87,263 square kilometers.

It has a range of small countries in the southeast, such as Thailand, Vietnam, Burma,
Malaysia, Singapore, and Indonesia. India thus benefits politically from its geographical
location.

In terms of area, it is 13 times larger than Britain. 7 times that of Europe, due to its vastness,
diversity, physical and human conditions and limitations, it is not a country but a
subcontinent.

The snowy peaks of the Himalayas in the north adorn it like a silver crown. There are seas
and oceans to the east, west, and south. To the northwest, the Hindukush and Suleiman
mountains separate India from Russia, Afghanistan, and Iran. To the east, the Arakan
Mountains separate it from Burma.
Geography has given India a separate existence. It is the seventh-largest country in the world
in terms of area. India’s borders have been built with nature and man. The countries whose
borders meet India are: Afghanistan, Pakistan, China, Myanmar (Burma), Bhutan and
Bangladesh.

Naturally, India is divided into four broad natural divisions. The first is the Himalayan region,
which stretches from high mountains down to marshy forests. Kashmir, Kangra, Tehri,
Kumaon, Nepal, Sikkim, and Bhutan are included in this region.

The second is the great northern plain from Punjab to Bengal, which is called the Indo-
Gangetic Plain. The third region is the Central Indian and Deccan Plateau. It is geographically
the oldest part of India. The fourth divisions consist of two long narrow coastal plains of
South India between the Western Ghats and the Arabian Sea on one side.

Transport & Trade in India


Transport and trade have special importance in the economic development of a country.
There are four major modes of transport such as roads, railways, waterways and airways.

The total length of the railroad in our country is 62,759 km. More than a thousand trains run
daily in our country, Asia’s largest and famous for the second railway system in the world.

Most of the trade is by sea. Waterways are also important tools. There is trade and
transportation from 12 big and 148 small ports on the 75,16 km long beach here.

Air transport is available in our country in the form of Air India, Indian Air Lines, Vayudoot,
Pawanhans and private air services.

Items exported from India include tea, cotton and jute goods, iron, lacquer, hot spices, and
computer chips, which are sourced from America, Russia, Japan, Germany, Australia, and
other nations.

Beautiful and famous landmarks of India:


My country India is beautiful and it is surrounded by oceans on all three sides. Kashmir,
Mount Abu and Shimla This country attracts tourists due to its natural beauty.
There are many such tourist places in the country where people go to have fun. Temples,
monuments, churches and Indian wildlife sanctuaries in my country of India the area is a
picturesque tourist attraction. Many people go to beautiful tourist spots.

Among the famous sightseeing places here are Humayun’s Tomb, Red Fort, Qutub Minar and
many philosophical sites in Delhi. Jama Masjid, built during the reign of Shah Jahan.

There is an ancient observatory built by Raja Jai Singh. Gateway of India, Konark, Victoria
Memorial, Gol Gumbad, Sanchi Stupa, Jagannath Temple, Surya Temple, Khajuraho and
Somnath Temple, Two and a Half Day Jhopra and Taj Mahal are famous sites.

People and Culture of India


India is a country as large as its population. India’s population is the second-largest in the
world. This population made up of several ethnic groups. They are divide into several castes
and sub-castes.

In addition, people follow many major religions and many creeds. However, most of the
people of India are Hindus, Muslims, Christians, Buddhists, Jains, and Sikhs who live here in
different religions and communities.

There are about two hundred different languages and dialects through which people speak.
People from Sanskrit, Hindi, Punjabi, Oriya, Bengali, Assamese, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada,
Marathi, Gujarati, Urdu, and Persian languages. Their rituals are different, they are all rooted
in an Indian sutra.

Cultural heritage includes compositions of Ved Upanishad, Mahabharata, Gita, Ramayana,


poets like Kalidasa, Jayadeva, Tulsidas, Surdas, and compositions of Panchatantra, Jataka,
Hitopadesh.

Folk dances – Garba, Bhangra, Bihu Ghoomar, Sukh, Pandwani etc. are famous in all the
states of the country.

Conclusion –

My India is recognized by its great culture and heritage. It is the largest democratic country
in the world. My country is growing rapidly in all fields of space science, education, and
technology. I am proud of my country.
