The Fox and the Stork
A cunning fox lived in a picturesque forest where the leaves were always rustling gently in the wind. The fox was
known for his pranks. One day, he had a particularly mischievous idea. He decided to invite his friend, the stork,
to an elaborate dinner party to play a trick on him.
“Come to dinner,” the fox called to the stork as he marched through the forest. “I’m preparing an exquisite multi-
course meal just for you!”
The stork, known for being polite, accepted the invitation with a smile.
That evening, the stork went to the fox’s house. The fox had set a festive table and proudly presented the first
course: a delicious, fragrant soup. But instead of deep bowls, there were only shallow plates. The fox lapped up his
soup with enjoyment while the stork tried in vain to scoop some up with his long beak.
Next, the fox served a fine porridge, again on a flat plate. The stork pecked and pecked, but could hardly eat a
thing. The fox giggled quietly, enjoying his meal while watching the stork.
The stork was disappointed, but he remained good natured.
“Thank you for the meal,” he said kindly. “I’d like to invite you to my place tomorrow. I’ll cook for us!”
The next evening, the fox visited the stork. He was looking forward to a delicious meal. To his surprise, the stork
presented all the food in tall, narrow vases. The stork could easily reach the food with his long beak, while the fox
could only look on helplessly.
