RESEARCH ASSOCIATES IN TRANSPORTATION ECONOMICS, FINANCE, AND POLICY
The Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad intends to hire multiple candidates with a postgraduate
degree in economics (MSc/MA or similar), or urban planning (MCP/Master of Planning or similar), or
business administration (MBA or similar) and a solid quantitative background as full-time Research
Associates working on a range of projects related to transportation economics, infrastructure finance,
transport sector decarbonization policy, etc. Applicants must have a strong foundation in the core elements
of economic theory and have in-depth knowledge of econometric methods. The Research Associates will
have research responsibilities including, but not limited to: survey design and administration, data cleaning
and processing, literature reviews, quantitative data analysis, drafting and editing of reports, and project
administration related activities. Prior work experience as a research assistant is desirable but not
mandatory.
Required Qualifications & Skills
• Applicants must have a master’s degree in economics (MSc/MA or similar), or urban planning
(MCP/Master of Planning or similar), or business administration (MBA or similar) with significant
coursework/concentration in econometrics and/or data analytics.
• Prospective candidates must have taken courses in urban economics, urban development, land use
planning, transportation planning/policy, or related subjects.
• Prospective candidates must have taken and achieved good grades in undergraduate as well as
postgraduate level courses in statistics, econometrics, and microeconomics.
• Expertise in Stata/R is required. Expertise in GIS is a plus.
• Excellent communication skills (both written and oral) are essential. A writing sample must be
submitted.

Duration
This is a full-time on-campus job. The position will be initially offered for a period of three to six months, and
may be extended depending on performance, at the discretion of the faculty supervisor. The Research
Associate may be required to travel within India.
Salary
Compensation will be governed by IIMA’s policy, commensurate with qualification and experience.
