internship at UPS is designed to provide you with the following:

How is an internship at UPS different from internships offered at other organizations?
Internship at UPS starts with the idea that each one of us has the potential to help not just ourselves but
make a meaningful difference in the lives of many others if given proper nurturance, training and
guidance. Thus, internship at UPS was started with the idea of letting one blossom to their fullest so that
millions of people who need psychological help can receive world class, professional, genuine,
authentic and ethical services.
The key highlights of Internship at UPS are:
1. Supervised Interaction with Clients: Reading in books about what counselling is and conducting a
counselling session are two entirely different things. The art of counselling can never be learnt,
unless and until one doesn’t interact with a client. That is why we, at UPS, allow and encourage
interns to make good observations of the verbal and non-verbal aspects of the client, their family
members and also permit interns to interact with the clients, but under supervision.
2. Imparting Skills: The theoretical knowledge of skills is one thing and knowing when, where, why and
how to apply these skills is another thing. At UPS, the team of skilled and qualified professionals
actively teach interns various counselling and therapeutic skills.

3. Logical Explanations: Cases are discussed at length and interns are taught and explained why a
particular therapeutic or counselling technique was used. This enhances one’s understanding of the
therapeutic process itself.
4. Opportunity to Question and Learn: An inquisitive mind learns the most. Interns at UPS are
encouraged to question and think out of the box and discuss their concerns and share their inputs
after they observe a therapy case with the clinical psychologist. All their queries are addressed and
satisfactorily answered.
5. Role Plays: One of the most effective ways of practical learning is through role plays. Various basic
and advanced skills are taught through several role plays. Interns are encouraged and are made to
participate in these role plays and are given accurate and positive feedback.
6. Concept Clarity: Intensive theoretical classes focussing on concept clarity are also held on a
regular basis.
7. Exposure to Different Therapies: Interns are also exposed to different therapies like CBT, REBT,
Logotherapy, existential Therapy, dream analysis, aspects of client-centred therapy and
psychodynamic based therapies.
8. Assessments: A psychologist should not only know about counselling or therapy but should also be
skilled at assessments. Interns at UPS are taught about various psychological assessments, their
administration, scoring and interpretation. Why, when and where a particular assessment needs to
be done is also taught. Interns are also permitted to conduct assessments on clients but under
supervision.
9. Art of Sharing: Report writing skills and sharing their results is also an art. Interns are exposed to this
too.
10. Adequate Exposure: At UPS, interns are given a lot of exposure to a variety of cases and to different
modalities such as speech therapy, special education, occupational therapy, psychiatry and clinical
psychology.
11. Posting: Interns at UPS are also posted to different counselling, Clinical, Rehabilitation, NGO, De
Addiction and Community out-reach set-ups so that they can pick up various skills that are specific
to each Mental Health Set-up.
12. Ethical Practice: Professionals at UPS follow ethical practices and encourage interns to apply
ethics in their practice and follow and maintain confidentiality.
13. No Clerical Work: Intern come at UPS to learn and sharpen their skills and are never made to do any
clerical tasks.
14. Best Intern Award: To promote young minds to develop a learning-oriented perspective, enhance
their knowledge and sharpen their practical skills, UPS every year also gives ‘The Best Intern Award’
to the interns who have performed par excellence during their internship period.

ALL THAT YOU NEED TO KNOW WHEN YOU JOIN INTERNSHIP AT UPS
At the time of Joining
● The day you join you must remember to------
● Given all your details with respect your name, phone number, email ID, college, course,
psychology teachers name, her phone number and psychology teachers email ID and get these
entries done in a Google sheet that the staff carries
● Collect your promise card bookmark from the staff
● assist staff to add you to the Unipsy updates group internship WhatsApp group and remember
to follow the Instagram and YouTube as we will keep you updated with lot of skills
● ensure you have a quick look at the website so that you are fully aware of all the services and all
the exposures and amazing learnings that you can have and you don't miss on anything at all
Dress code and timings
formal dressing is appreciated avoid wearing anything that is revealing
the timings of internships are Monday to Saturday 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM please strictly adhere to the
timelines, as we will begin our programs even if one student is there and we will not repeat ourselves so
please be on time so that you don't miss out anything important
Work Ethics
All of you must carry a separate notebook find Township every day when you come at the clinic
Every morning you're supposed to collect your batches Vadim while you are doing your internship here
and return them the same day back before leaving the clinic. Failure to return the batch or losing the
batch will cost you a fine of ₹100. Let's be more responsible and enact smartly.
The first day of internship will begin with teaching you Case Histories, MSE, Role Play and Case
Conceptualization. You must be good at it only then can we start giving you cases under supervision
Thereafter you must focus on learning assessments such as IQ assessments SSCT instructions for
TATas a priority as you will see many such assessments happening and only once you learn them can
you get a chance to administer them on the clients under supervision
Internship you will be made to watch all the clients who give consent. While listening to the clients please
remain silent so that this doesn't interrupt the counselling session, note down all the doubts that you
have and after the session is over feel free to watch anything and everything. We encourage interns to
ask questions and encourage a curious creative innovative mind.
In case the client does not give consent, and he does not want you to listen or observe the case, at that
point while you're waiting outside maintain the decorum and use that time to practice psychological
tests and make use of the internship booklet that has been designed specifically for you to enhance your

Knowledge. You guys can also engage in case discussions a practice role plays amongst each other and
can request a staff to supervise them. Train makes maximum use of every single second that you spend
during your internship at Unique Psychological Services.
Back home you are requested to read more about the cases that you saw, develop more intervention
ideas, brainstorm with your batchmates and try to devise a therapeutic plan. This will help you develop
your skills and enhance your learning and internship further
Please get your internship booklets signed by the staff on daily basis and ask them to give you some tasks
that you could do further to enhance your learnings
There is a detailed internship booklet that has been designed that contains the entire content for your
convenience and whenever you find the time, please read through it. This will help you develop an
excellent understanding of your concepts
For all your doubts you can reach out to the staff at the reception counter.
If you are willing to conduct assessments, then you are requested to first practice all of them amongst
each other and get it checked and reviewed by the staff.
The Staff feels that you are confident, and you are doing it correctly the cases will be handed over to you.
You will still be working with the clients under supervision.
Any assessment or any material that you need for your practice should be asked and taken from the staff
no matter what. Please do not take any testing materials on your own without the staff permission on
consent.
Any degree of non-professionalism or misconduct specifically in this area will not be tolerated. Use of
unethical means can also lead to termination of your internship so please be more mindful.
Feedback and Reward
While you are doing your internship here you would be simultaneously assessed in terms of the initiative
you take, active listening and learning tasks you engage in, kind of interactions and discussions that you
participate in, ideas you generate, your passion and commitment towards learning, professionalism,
ability to work in team, ability to receive and respond to feedback or criticism, and overall conduct.
Based on this evaluation at the end of the internship, Unique Psychological Services provide best
internship awards. We really hope each one of you brings forward the best self and gets rewarded.
