Philosophy comes from two Greek words: philo (love)
and sophia (wisdom). It literally means “love of
wisdom.”
Philosophy is not just a subject—it’s a way of thinking.
It means asking questions, reflecting, and seeking
understanding.

2. Holistic vs. Partial Perspective

A holistic perspective looks at the big picture.


A partial perspective focuses on only one part or
angle.

Example:

Holistic: Judging a student’s performance based


on academic, emotional, and social well-being.

Partial: Judging based only on test scores.

Activity: Group Scenario Analysis


Each group gets a scenario (e.g., a student failing a test,
a friend being moody). Discuss and decide:

What is the holistic view?

What is the partial view?

Partial View: They’re lazy or irresponsible.
