1. 늘다 (to increase, improve) > 늘리다 (to make increase/improve, to increase sth, improve sth)
Active)
한국어 실력 (이 / 을) 늘었어요.
최근에 혼자 사는 사람(이 / 을) 늘었어요.
Causative)
(저는) 한국어 실력(이 / 을) 늘리고 싶어요.
다음 달에 한국에 가기 때문에 / 한국어 실력을 빨리 (늘어 / 늘려)야 해요.
2. 웃다 (to laugh) > 웃기다 (to make laugh)
Active) Mom laughs often.
Causative) My Dad often makes my mom laugh.
This movie is funny. 영화가 웃겨요.
3. 앉다 (to sit) > 앉히다 (to make sit, to sit sb down)
Active) The guests sat down on the couch.
Causative) I sat the guests on the couch.
4. 살다 (to live, survive) > 살리다 (to make live/survive, to save, to rescue)
Active) My friend survived thanks to the doctor.
Causative) The doctor saved my life.

[ Descriptive Verb / Adjective > Causative Verb ]
1. 넓다 [널따] (to be wide, spacious) > 넓히다 [널피다] (to widen)
방( ) 넓어요. The room is big, The room is spacious.
속( ) 넓다, 마음( ) 넓다 : to be generous
시야( ) 넓히다 : to widen one’s horizon
Learning a foreign language widened my horizon.
2. 좁다 (to be narrow, to be unspaciaous) > 좁히다 (to make narrow, to narrow sth down)
방( ) 너무 좁아요. The room is too small.
속( ) 좁다 : to be petty, small-minded
의견 차이() 좁히다 : to close the gap, bridge the gap of opinions
If you want to close the gap of opinions, communication is essential.
3. 비다 (to be empty) > 비우다 (to empty sth)
4. 차다 (to be full) > 채우다 (to fill)
(차다 > 이 + 우)
The trashcan is empty.
쓰레기통이 (비었어요 / 비웠어요)
The trashcan has been full for a few days, so I’d better empty it today.
쓰레기통이 며칠 동안 꽉 (차서 / 채워서) 오늘 (비어야 / 비워야)겠어요.

5. 늦다 (to be late) > 늦추다 (to postpone, push back)

1. 먹다 (to eat) > 먹이다 (to feed)
Active) Cats eat fish or chicken.
Causative) I feed my cat fish or chicken.
2. 입다 (to wear) > 입히다 (to dress somebody)
Active) My daughter is wearing a pretty dress.
Causative) I dressed my daughter a pretty dress.
3. 풀다 (to solve) > 풀리다 (to make solve)
The students are solving the word quiz.
The teacher had the students solve the word quiz.
4. 안다 (to hug, to hold) > 안기다 (to make hug, make hold)
My husband is holding the baby.
I let my husband hold the baby.
5. 타다 (to ride, to get in a vehicle) > 태우다 (to make ride, to give a ride)
(타다 + 이 + 우 = 태우다)
차를 타다 vs 차에 타다
차를 태우다 vs 차에 태우다
I went there by car.
차( ) 타고 갔어요.
Get in the car.
차( ) 타세요.
차( ) 타.
I gave a ride to my daughter.
I had my daughter board the car.

6. 읽다 (to read) > 읽히다 (to make read, to read sb sth)
Passive : 읽다 (to read) > 읽히다 (to be read)
자녀들에게 책을 읽히면 똑똑해져요.
많은 사람들에게 읽히는 책을 베스트셀러라고 해요.
7. 보다 (to see) > 보이다 = 보여주다 (to show)
보다 (to see) > 보이다 (to be seen)
Passive : People believe what they see. = 사람들은 (보이는 / 보여주는) 걸 믿어요.
Causative : I want to show people my true value. = 사람들에게 제 진가를 (보이고 / 보여주고) 싶

8. 듣다 (to listen) > 들리다 = 들려주다 (to make sb listen, to tell)
