D. Discussing New Concepts and Practicing New Skills #1

What is Line Graph? Line Graph- Is a graph that uses line to join
points which represent a data set.

When to use line graph Line graph can be used to show how
something changes that was collected in a
short time period.

What do you look for in a line graph? -Two axis which is the x-axis and y-axis.
-Examine the values of the points.
- Follow the line and figure out. (if it
increases or decrease).

Let’s have an example:

Ali presented her daily expenses in school in 5
days. Monday ₱25, Tuesday ₱30, Wednesday
₱10, Thursday ₱60 and Friday ₱35.

Before we present a line graph, we need to

organize first the data in a tabular form

There are the two factors which is the Days

and Expenses.

Now, let us make a line graph for the two
factor- Days and Expenses

Here are the steps in making a line graph

Can you read the first step Alliah. Steps in constructing a line graph:
(Alliah) 1st Step - Draw the x and y-axis.
We are going to draw a Vertical line as our x-
axis and horizontal line as our y-axis.

Step 1: Draw the x-axis and y-axis.

Please read the second step Rhiane. (Rhiane) 2nd Step -Use the data form from
the table to label the axes.
Thank you so much Rhiane.

So, we are going to label the axes by putting

the 2 factors which is the Days and Expenses

In y-axis we are going to place the Expenses

(in ₱) start with our Interval 5 since our
expenses is multiple by 5. and in the x-axis
let’s place the Days.
By placing the Days that start with Monday
How are we going to label the x-axis? up to Friday ma’am.

You are right.

By placing the Expenses of Ali that start with
How about the y- axis? our class interval 5 up to 60 ma’am.
