Statistics and Probability
We introduced Statistics and Probability to align with the Harmonized East
African Community Statistics Curriculum.
Set Concepts is now a sub-topic under the topic Data Handling in the
classes where it appears. This is done because sets are a pre-requisite in
collecting, sorting and grouping data.
Patterns and Sequences is merged with Whole Numbers in the classes
where it appears since its content is directly in line with whole numbers like
types of numbers and square roots of whole numbers.

English Language

Time
 A school year shall consist of three terms.
 Each term shall have 12 weeks, hence a total of 36 weeks in an
academic year.
 Each week shall have five days of school, Monday to Friday.
 Each school day shall begin at 8:00 am and end at 4:00 pm.
 Each school day shall have seven 40-minute periods totaling to 35
periods a week.
 Classes shall begin at 8:30 am and end at 2:40 pm. (ONLY ONE 40-
minute period after the lunch break)
 There shall be two breaks in a day. The mid-morning break shall be
30 minutes from 10:30 to 11:00 am.
 The lunch break shall be of one hour from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm.
 2:00 pm to 2:40 pm is project and remediation time.
