Alberta is home to Dinosaur Provincial Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site where over 50 dinosaur species and numerous fossils from the late Cretaceous Period have been discovered. The province features diverse geography, including grasslands, mountains, and forests, and has a continental climate with significant sunshine and temperature fluctuations due to Chinook winds. Alberta is also a major producer of oil, natural gas, and coal, with extensive deposits located in specific regions.

MY STATE POSTER

Paleontology
The Dinosaur Provincial Park, is one of Alberta's Provincial parks, with with "over
50 dinosaur species have been found here, joining a list of another 450 fossil
organisms. These ancient remains give us the world's most complete record of
the late Cretaceous Period. Dinosaur Provincial Park has been designated a
UNESCO World Heritage Site" (AlbertaParks, n.d.). These parks like other of
Alberta's provincial parks are protected in order ensure there are no
disturbances to the wild species of Alberta and their natural environment.

Geography
"Alberta is the westernmost of the Prairie provinces of Canada, bounded
on the north by the Northwest Territories, on the east by Saskatchewan, on
the south by the state of Montana, and on the southwest and west by
British Columbia. Alberta is a wholly inland territory" (Canadainto, n.d.).
The major geographical regions are the Grassland, Parkland, Foothiils,
Boreal Forest, Rocky Mountains and Candiand Shield. (AlbertaParks, n.d.).

Climate
"Alberta has a continental climate, with more sunshine than any other
Canadian province. Winters are dry, sunny, and cold, though in the south
the Chinook winds, which occur when warm, dry air of Pacific origin
descends the eastern slopes of the Rockies, can raise temperatures by 40
°F (22 °C) in an hour or less" (Brittanica, n.d.).

Geology
"Oil and natural gas occur widely, and major deposits of heavy crude oil and
oil sands are exploited in the Lloydminster, Cold Lake, and Fort McMurray
regions along the eastern border with Saskatchewan. Alberta produces the
vast majority of Canada's natural gas and crude oil and roughly half of its
coal" (Britannica, n.d.).
