FAKE PREACHERS AND FAKE BELIEVERS

INTRODUCTION

We are living in a world today with full of fakes. If something has a quality brand,
it is always being imitated. So are fake news, fake friends, fake medicines, fake
brands of products, even fake sexuality. Be sure that if you want to get married, you
are certain that you know whom you are going to marry.

The bible even warns us that in the last days, there will be fake teachers, prophets,
fake religions bringing fake doctrines.

2 Timothy 3:1-9 King James Version

1 This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.

2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud,
blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,

3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce,

despisers of those that are good,

4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;

5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.

6 For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women
laden with sins, led away with divers lusts,

7 Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

8 Now as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also resist the truth:
men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the faith.

9 But they shall proceed no further: for their folly shall be manifest unto all men, as
their's also was.

- Last days covers from the death of Jesus until today. We are in the last of the
last days.
- These people are not the wicked people that we consider evil but those we
see in church (v.5)

When there are false doctrines, false religions and false teachers, they produce false
believers. Our aim here is to be sure where we are. We are not just like a bamboo
tree that leans wherever the direction the wind blows. We must be certain that we
are on the right spot, saved, sanctified and confident of our faith.
Note that they consider themselves as believers.

Matthew 7:21- 23 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the
kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.

Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name?
and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful
works?

And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work
iniquity.

“Check Yourself Before You Wreck Yourself” — A Holy Ghost Mirror Moment

Stop. Breathe. Look in the mirror of the Word.

Paul isn’t just writing about them out there.

He’s warning about us in here.

And before we go pointing fingers at a godless world, we better make sure the rot
isn’t growing under our own spiritual skin.

“But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days…” (2 Tim. 3:1)

Beloved, the last days aren’t coming — they’re HERE. And Paul didn’t say the times
would be dangerous because of hurricanes, war, or the economy. No — it’s the
heart of humanity that has become a battlefield.

So now the question is: Is any of this in ME?

Am I loving myself more than denying myself?

Am I craving money, likes, or applause more than God’s presence?

Do I boast in spiritual gifts but walk void of spiritual fruit?

Am I disobedient to authority, rebellious under the banner of “just being real”?

Is there a trace of ungratefulness, entitlement, or secret sin I’ve baptized in

excuses?

Be honest.

Because hypocrisy isn’t just out there in the culture — it starts in the house of God.

We don’t need louder preachers — we need cleaner vessels.

Paul said they would have “a form of godliness, but deny its power.” That’s shouting
on Sunday and cussing on Monday. That’s praying with lips but not repenting with
heart. That’s talking kingdom but living compromise.

So here’s the charge:

Check your love. Check your motives. Check your character when no one’s looking.

If you're clapping for sermons that never convict you… you're in trouble.

If you can preach it but can’t live it… you're in deeper trouble.

If you’ve gotten comfortable with the form but don't carry the fire — repent. Now.

This isn’t about shame — it’s about sobriety.

God isn’t looking for perfect — He’s looking for honest.

And the one who humbles himself in the secret place will walk in power in the public
square.

Let this be the day you ask:

“God, is there anything in me that reflects this list of the last days?”

“Purge me, cleanse me, and fill me with true godliness — not the kind that
performs, but the kind that transforms.”

“Let judgment begin in the house of God — and let that house be me.”
