Grade 7 – Mathematics

Chapter: Integers
Time: 1 Hour
Full Marks: 40

Section A – [1 mark each]

(Attempt all questions. Each question carries 1 mark)

1. 1. Find the value of: (-5) + 8

2. 2. Write the additive inverse of -23.
3. 3. What is the result of subtracting -12 from 5?
4. 4. Write the integer which is 7 less than -2.
5. 5. Simplify: (-3) × 0

Section B – [2 marks each]

(Attempt any 5 questions. Each question carries 2 marks)

6. 6. Find the product: (-4) × (-9)

7. 7. Evaluate: 12 + (-7) + (-5)
8. 8. Represent -3 and +5 on a number line.
9. 9. Subtract (-8) from (-3).
10. 10. Verify: a × (b + c) = a × b + a × c for a = -2, b = 4, c = -5
11. 11. What is the result when an integer is added to its additive inverse?

Section C – [3 marks each]

(Attempt any 4 questions. Each question carries 3 marks)

12. 12. Evaluate: (-3) × (-4) + (-6) ÷ 2

13. 13. Find: [(-15) + 6] × (-2)
14. 14. Fill in the blanks using >, < or =:
(i) -7 ___ -5
(ii) -12 ___ -15
(iii) 0 ___ -1
15. 15. A submarine is at a depth of 250 m below sea level. It descends another 120 m and
then rises by 75 m. What is its new position with respect to sea level?
16. 16. Write all integers between -5 and 3. Find their sum.

Section D – [4 marks each]

(Attempt any 2 questions. Each question carries 4 marks)

17. 17. A lift is at the ground floor. It goes up 5 floors, then down 3 floors, up 6 more floors,
and finally down 10 floors. If each floor is 3 metres high, find the final position of the lift
with respect to the ground level.
18. 18. Simplify using properties of integers:
{(-6) + 4} × (-3) + 2 × (-5)
19. 19. Using number line, solve:
(-7) + 5 - 3 + (-2)
Explain each step clearly.
