9 Years Preventive Maintenance


FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTION:
The AINT-xx, NRED-61 board and flat cables are the parts of the control circuits for
power plate modules. The logic circuits produce gate control pulses for IGBTs and
ensure that the two devices associated with a single output phase are not gated on
simultaneously. The CINT-board is based on AINT-14 board and its part of the input
bridge control and measuring circuit in Diode supply modules (only +V992 version).

REASONS FOR THE CHANGE:


AINT-xx boards, flat cables and CINT-01 boards
The main circuit interface boards have ageing components like electrolytic capacitors.
The estimated lifetime of the electrolytic capacitors is about 90 000 hours. Our
recommendation is to change AINT-xx and CINT- boards every 9 years to avoid the
risk of destroying the IGBT/semiconductor components due to weak or wrong control
pulses or signaling error from an aged component. We recommend changing the set
of flat cable every 9 years to avoid the risk of random type of signaling errors
especially in corrosive environment.

NRED-61 boards (only 690VAC units)


NRED-61 is thick-film hybrid and it is used as a voltage adapter between the DC link
and the power supply.

Improper operation of the NRED-61 has been every now and then the reason for
power supply failures especially after over voltages in the dc link. We recommend
replacing NRED-61 adapters every 9 years to avoid the risk of power supply failures.

UNDESIRABLE EFFECTS IF PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE IS NOT CARRIED OUT:


If the control boards do not work properly, there is a very high risk of IGBT damages in
the inverter units because of:
1. Wrong timing of control pulses.
2. Low or short control pulses.
3. Power supply failures
4. Random type of signaling errors
