A4R AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION / TRANSAXLE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION

PROCEDURE

1.INSPECT AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID LEVEL

HINT:
Drive the vehicle so that the engine and transmission are at normal operating temperature.

Fluid temperature:
70 to 90°C (158 to 194°F)

Park the vehicle on a level surface and set the parking brake.

b. With the engine idling and the brake pedal depressed, move the shift lever from P to L, and then return the shift lever to
P.

c. Take out the dipstick and wipe it clean.

d. Put it back all the way.

e. Take it out again and check that the fluid level is within H range.
If there are leaks, it is necessary to repair or replace O-rings, FIPGs, oil seals, plugs and/or other parts.
HINT:
When fluid temperature is low (20 to 30°C {68 to 86°F}), adjust the fluid level within C range. Then, recheck the fluid
level after warming up the engine.
