PROJECT OBJECTIVES
The goal of this project is to improve the community's engagement in waste management practices by
addressing the current infrastructure for waste disposal and networking with local leaders in Barangay
Pampang. The collective output, which will go towards reducing pollution and creating a sustainable
world, is accounted for through the measurable objectives.
● Organize an event to discuss waste management practices and involve at least 30% of the
residents in the selected area.
● Develop and strategize potential solutions to the waste problem, including the proposal for
strategically placed waste bins and the implementation of a comprehensive clean-up plan.
● Ensure that collaboration happens with the concerned local leaders and develop a new
schedule that favors frequent collection of waste and minimizes any missing collections in
order to improve the general effectiveness of the waste minimization process.
● Implementation of a waste management campaign that encourages families and businesses to
dispose of only organic and recyclable waste.
● Develop a waste management system in Barangay Pampang with guidance that will enable
the community to propose changes when the need arises to facilitate proper waste
management.

BACKGROUND OF THE PROJECT

A. Background and identified issues of the community

According to the World Bank (2020), urbanization, growth in population, and new ways of
consumption are the main causes of the solid waste industry's explosive rise. It highlights how urgent
it is to improve ways to handle waste globally by projecting that by 2050, the amount of waste
generated worldwide would have significantly increased, with a notable increase in plastic waste.

Barangay Pampang, located in the Angeles City, Pampanga, like many urbanized communities in the
Philippines, the growing urbanization and increasing population in this community present serious
waste management concerns. Since Pampang is linked to many residential and commercial buildings,
garbage production is rising quickly, with a large portion coming from homes, companies, and street
sellers. The barangay has some basic waste management procedures in place, but the increasing
quantity of waste and a shortage of applying discipline have put a demand on local services, which has
led to a rising health and environmental crisis.

In line with this, the project proposal conceives the plan and initiates the arising problem of Barangay
Pampang.

PROJECT LOCATION MAP

DESIRED IMPACT AND OUTCOME OF THE PROJECT

The waste management initiative in Barangay Pampang has the potential to bring about concrete and
sustainable advancements by tackling the underlying causes of the waste issue with practical,
community-oriented solutions. Strategically positioned waste bins and optimized collection schedules
can significantly decrease visible litter, leading to cleaner streets and public areas. These
improvements can also lower health hazards by diminishing exposure to pests and unsanitary
environments. The project encourages cooperation between residents and local authorities, fostering a
mutual sense of accountability. This strategy not only addresses immediate waste challenges but also
establishes an efficient model of shared responsibility that can be emulated by other urban
communities.
Positioning of Trash Containers
To encourage tidier public areas and reduce waste buildup.
• Place waste bins in busy or neglected areas, like streets and roads, to minimize visible litter and
facilitate easy access for appropriate waste disposal.
Enhanced Waste Collection Timetable
• Establish a refined waste collection schedule to guarantee regular pickups, eliminating trash
accumulation on streets and minimizing unhealthy conditions resulting from postponed collections.
Decreased Health Hazards
• Reduce exposure to pests and unclean environments, lowering health risks like pest-borne illnesses
through prompt waste removal and enhanced sanitation.
Encouraging Waste Separation
• Encourages residents to separate organic and recyclable items from their general trash. This method
lessens landfill impact, promotes sustainability, and informs the community about responsible waste
management methods.
Enhanced Waste Collection Timetable
• Establish a refined waste collection schedule to guarantee regular pickups, eliminating trash
accumulation on streets and minimizing unhealthy conditions resulting from postponed collections.
