DMWM SUNDAY HOLY COMMUNION SERVICE
DATE: 15TH JULY, 2012
TEXTS: LEVITICUS 17: 11; MATTHEW 26: 28
TOPIC: THE BLOOD OF THE NEW TESTAMENT – THE BLOOD OF
JESUS CHRIST
LEVITICUS 17: 11 - For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I
have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your
souls: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul.
This Scripture sounds like an Old Testament Scripture but those who know
what Jesus Christ did for us, will find out that this scripture is for yesterday,
today and forever. Remember that we are the first altar of God and the
purpose of this blood is to make atonement for our sins. It also states in:
LEVITICUS 17: 14 - For it is the life of all flesh; the blood of it is for
the life thereof: therefore I said unto the children of Israel, Ye shall
eat the blood of no manner of flesh: for the life of all flesh is the
blood thereof …
This refers to the blood of animal sacrifice in the Old Testament but today,
the Bible says that we are in a better covenant (Heb. 8: 6 - 8). Jesus
Himself said that this is a new covenant as stated in:
MATTHEW 26: 28: - For this is my blood of the new testament,
which is shed for many for the remission of sins.
This Scripture talks about the New Testament while the previous Scripture
in Leviticus 17: 11 had to do with the Old Testament. It had to do with
animal blood and animal sacrifice. The New Testament blood is shed for
many for the remission of sins. This statement of Jesus was also reiterated
in Mark 14: 24:
And he said unto them, This is my blood of the new testament, which
is shed for many.
Jesus replaced the animal sacrifices being carried out under the Old
Testament by taking the place of the sacrifice. Formerly, it was not
everybody who could provide animals for sacrifice (Leviticus 5: 5 – 13) but
today, Jesus replaced the animal sacrifice so that no matter one’s position or
placement in life, whether poor or rich, we now all have access to that blood
of JESUS CHRIST. He paid the price. A ransom is the price paid for the
release of a slave and Jesus paid the ransom with His life and on our behalf
so that we would no longer pay it ourselves. He released His blood and till
date, that blood is still at work, very active and is still the same yesterday,
today and forever.
His death which stands as His blood released all of us from our slavery to
sin and from untimely death. The blood was shed for many, for the
remission of sins. There are different ways we shed the blood, one of which
is when we call on that blood. It is the only blood that has power to deliver,
to heal and to save. When the blood is invoked in our midst and upon our
lives, upon our meals, upon our drinks, etc; there will be healing,
deliverance, life, etc.
In EPHESIANS 1: 7 - In whom we have redemption through his blood,
the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace
We have redemption through His blood. His death points to two important
truths and these are:
The Redemption
Forgiveness of Sins
The blood stands for redemption, deliverance, forgiveness and when the
blood is invoked, we ask God to forgive us of all unrighteousness, sins, evil,
etc. The shedding of the blood is for the remission of sins. When the blood is
invoked, we ask the Lord to deliver us from slavery, the powers of darkness,
principalities and powers, sicknesses, diseases, afflictions and untimely
death. The blood overrides all religious teachings and everything related to
and associated with tradition. The blood is the all in all.
In MARK 10: 45 – For even the Son of man came not to be ministered
unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.
We all are classified under the word ‘MANY’. He came to shed His blood
therefore, no matter the situation and whatever one is presently passing
through, when the blood of Jesus Christ is invoked in righteousness, there
will be manifestation.
The wine we drink is symbolic of the blood and the bread we break is
symbolic of food. When we partake in the communion, all impossibilities
shall become possible and all obstacles on our paths will be destroyed. As
we partake in the communion this morning, every disease, affliction,
frustration will give way in the Mighty Name of Jesus. Amen.
In the Old Testament, the Law had no power to stop sin even when animal
sacrifices were made and animal blood spilt but today, in the New
Testament, we have a stronger blood which is stronger than all powers. It is
the strongest of all and as that blood is invoked, it destroys all fear, disease,
affliction and untimely death. The animal blood shed in the Old Testament
could not give true identity but the better blood made available to us today
when invoked convey true identity to us.
When partaking in the communion, receive it with faith because without
faith, it is impossible to please God (HEBREWS 11: 6a: But without
faith it is impossible to please him…). Receive it with faith, love and
understanding. All barriers, bitterness, sorrows, sicknesses, poverty,
untimely death will give way. No witch can ever harass one again because
the blood will contend with whomever or whatever contends with us. As
stated in Exodus 12: 13: Now the blood shall be a sign for you on the
houses where you are. And when I see the blood, I will pass over
you;; and the plague shall not be on you to destroy you when I strike
the land of Egypt.
Jesus loves us, regardless of who we are and what we are and our various
abilities and capabilities. It was for this reason of love that He decided to
shed His blood so do not despise, reject and overlook His blood. We are to
rather cherish, embrace, drink, bath, sleep and invoke the blood.
Before partaking in the communion, seek the Lord’s forgiveness concerning
your past sins. We should search ourselves, look inward and even outward
and seek the forgiveness of the Lord.
PRAYER: LORD JESUS, I COME ONTO YOU. COME INTO MY LIFE, SPIRIT
AND SOUL. TAKE OVER ME. WASH ME, MY SPIRIT, SOUL, DESTINY,
LIFE, AND HEART WITH YOUR PRECIOUS BLOOD NOW.
Concerning the increasing ills witnessed today like untimely deaths,
accidents, darkness, massive killings and bombings by Boko Haram
members who attack churches, armed robbery attacks, fear of travelling to
the village because of the evil ones, wicked and evil neighbours, the
harassment of witches and wizards and all sorts of problems and terrors
which encompass us round about, there is ONE weapon that will enable us
forge ahead and continually strengthen us in this wicked world; one
weapon that will disarm all hidden agenda of the enemy, frustrate the
tokens of the liars and make the diviners mad (ISAIAH 44: 25). This is the
weapon of the blood of Jesus Christ. As the blood is invoked loudly, it will go
far and deep to locate and destroy all powers that want to terminate our
lives untimely. The Lord stated in Matthew 26: 28 that ‘This is my Blood of
the new covenant…”, therefore use His blood to confront, defeat, dethrone
and stop the activities of the enemy against our lives.
What do you desire the communion to do for you? Do you need peace, the
fruit of the womb, favour, destruction of one’s enemies, divine protection,
etc? Ask the Lord to grant you the desire of your heart as you partake in the
communion. Jesus took the bread and broke it so that our bodies will no
longer be broken.
