ASSIGNMENT GUIDELINES

1. GROUP FORMATION

• Each group must consist of 4 to 5 members.


• Students are responsible for forming their own groups and ensuring balanced participation among
members.

2. ASSIGNMENT OBJECTIVES

• To analyze and compare the application of information technology in libraries.


• To understand how technology improves library operations and services.
• To critically evaluate the similarities and differences between two library websites of the same type.

3. ASSIGNMENT REQUIREMENTS

• Selection of Libraries:
o Choose two (2) library websites that belong to the same category (e.g., academic libraries,
public libraries, special libraries).
• Areas of Comparison:
o The use of information technology in library operations.
o User interface and accessibility of the website.
o Online services and resources provided.
o Digital collections and databases available.
o Automation systems and software used.
o Security and privacy measures implemented.
o Other innovative technologies applied in the library.

4. ASSIGNMENT FORMAT

• Written Report:
o Minimum 25 pages (excluding references and appendices).
o Use Times New Roman, size 12, 1.5 spacing.
o Follow the APA citation style.
o Include the following sections:
1. Title Page (Group name, student names, course name, date)
2. Table of Contents
3. Introduction (Background, objectives, scope of the study)
4. Methodology (How the data was collected, sources)
5. Library Overview (Brief description of selected libraries)
6. Comparison Analysis (Detailed discussion on IT applications)
7. Findings & Discussion (Strengths, weaknesses, recommendations)
8. Conclusion (Summary and final thoughts)
9. References (APA format)
10. Appendices (If applicable)
• Slide Presentation:
o Maximum 15 slides.
o Must include visuals, charts, and examples.
o Summarize key points from the written report.
o Keep text minimal and focus on key highlights.

• Oral Presentation:
o Each group will present for 10-15 minutes.
o All members must participate.
o Presentation will be evaluated based on clarity, content, teamwork, and delivery.

5. SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS

• Submit both the written report and slide presentation in:


1. Printed format (Hard copy to be submitted in class).
2. Digital format (PDF version uploaded to the provided submission platform).
• Deadline: Submission in Week 12.
• Late submissions will be subject to penalties as per university policy.

6. ASSESSMENT CRITERIA
