III. Summary / Narration:


Monitoring the academic status of pupils is very important especially in the new
normal setting. It allows the parents and teachers to identify who among the pupils
needs intervention or enhancement. One way to see the academic achievements of the
pupils is through quarterly Portfolio Day which is one of the mandatory activities of
DepEd Leyte.
On the 19th day of December, 2020, Pitogo Elementary School conducted the
First Quarter Portfolio Day. It was equally participated by the school head, teachers and
parents who in spite of the bad weather managed to come to school for the said activity.
Protocols were strictly followed and the parents were requested to wash their hands,
wear face masks and observe social distancing. The parents were allowed to see the
modules which were checked by the teachers as basis for their child’s grades. They
were as well encouraged to raise questions and clarifications regarding the numerical
rating of their child. It was as well a great opportunity for the teacher to remind the
parents of their role in this new learning modality.
The activity was a great manifestation that school stakeholders are working
together in order to help the pupils learn despite this pandemic.

IV. Actual Result / Outcome


The activity was successful for it was able to fulfill its purpose. The parents were
able to see the ratings given by the teachers based on the modules which their children
have answered. They were able to identify which subjects their child needs to focus on.
V. Problems Encountered:
Some of the parents were not present in the said activity because of the bad
weather.

VI. Lessons Learned:


The parents should be reminded of the importance of attending the Quarterly
Portfolio Day. They should know that this is one way to monitor the performance of their
child.

VII. Sustainability / Replication:


The teachers and school stakeholders should work hand in hand in realizing
activities like this. There should also be a constant communication between the
teachers and parent to provide appropriate feedbacks to the pupils.
