ACRYLIC PRIMER
Description
Acrylic primer is water based and %100 acrylic emulsion for porous surface like asphalt or cement
concrete. It combines fast dry convenience with excellent adhesion to yield a coating that is suitable
for diverse applications.
USES
• Ideal for priming exterior and interior surfaces
• Rust inhibitive applications
• Used as primer before bonding floor coverings on suitable substrates with Kenncoat
adhesives

Application
1. Surface Preparation
Concrete substrates must be sound and of sufficient compressive strength (minimum 25 N/mm²)
with a minimum pull off strength of 2,5 N/mm². The residual moisture content of the substrate
must not exceed 4%, the substrate temperature should remain a minimum of +10⁰ C and the
temperature of the substrate must be at least +3⁰ C above the current dew point temperature.
For fresh concrete, at least 28 days must be waited for full curing of substrate.

The substrate must be clean, dry and free of all contaminants such as dirt, oil, grease, coatings
and surface treatments, etc. Concrete substrates must be prepared mechanically using abrasive
blast cleaning or scarifying equipment to remove cement laitance and achieve a profiled open
textured surface. If in doubt of the surface, apply a test area first. Do not apply on wet or frozen
surfaces and surfaces with high humidity.
2. Application Methods
Shake well before use.
Recommended application for acrylic primer is that it should be used as supplied form. But it can
be diluted with water up to one a half by weight if needed on screeds.
Apply evenly with a roll or brush. Make sure that the pool regions are not formed during
applications. A second coat may be necessary on porous, very absorbent substrates after drying.
The drying time depends on the relative humidity and absorbency of the subfloor. High
temperature and low humidity will shorten the drying time and opposite conditions or non-
absorbent surface will extend the time.
3. Clean up
Clean equipment with water immediately after use.
Packaging and Storage

1 years at temperatures between 5°C and 35°C, provided it is stored in a dry place and kept in
unopened container.
Handling
Use only with adequate ventilation. Do not breathe spray mist or sanding dust. Ensure fresh air
entry during application and drying. Avoid contact with eyes and prolonged or repeated contact with
skin. Avoid exposure to dust and spray mist by wearing a mask approved respirator during
application, sanding and clean up. Follow respirator manufacturer’s directions for respirator use.
Close container after each use. Wash thoroughly after handling.
