Q. No. II Attempt any NINE parts out of the following. Each part carries equal marks.
i. Write the limitations of Arrhenius Concept about acids and bases.
ii. Write any two differences between forward and reverse reaction.
iii. Derive mathematical expression for equilibrium constant using The Law of Mass Action.
iv. In the equilibrium mixture, the concentration of Nitrogen and Hydrogen is 0.04 moles per dm³ each while that of
ammonia is 0.08 moles per dm³. Find Kc for the given reaction. N 2 + 3H2 ⇌ 2NH3
v. Classify the given species as Lewis acids or Lewis bases: NH3, BF3, OH-, H+, CN-, AlCl3, H2O, Cu+2
vi. What is an amphoteric substance? Give an example.
vii. N2 + 3H2 ⇌ 2NH3 Consider the given reaction is at the stage of dynamic equilibrium. Now if sum of the product is
removed from the equilibrium mixture, what will happen to the direction of reaction?

d) N2 + 3H2 ⇌ 2NH3
V. State and explain The Law of Mass Action.
VI. (a) What are the conditions of equilibrium and how do they affect the position of equilibrium?
(b) Calculate the pH and pOH of 0.005M solution of NaOH. Also calculate molar concentrations of H+
and OH- ions.
