Abstract : This study examines the role of fire insurance in
mitigating financial losses for businesses and individuals in Myanmar.
This study aims to identify the current status of fire insurance and analyze
the premium rating on the current fire insurance system in Myanmar. In
this study, fire policies cover owners of commercial or industrial property
against material damage caused by fire and allied perils. Fire policies offer
coverage against various perils, including fire, explosion, and riot, with
different methods for calculating premiums and determining sums insured.
Key findings reveal that market value policies are more common for older
buildings, while declaration policies offer more flexibility for high-value
assets. Further research is needed to explore the impact of fire public
liability insurance on business operations and public safety. The findings
of this study can inform insurance policy design and risk management
practices, contributing to greater financial stability and preparedness for
fire insurance in Myanmar. The awareness of insurance should be raised
for public by insurance industry. The current premium rate is high and it
needs to be calculated with actuaries on the observation of the current
condition in insurance industry.
