32. Electrostatic painting is becoming quite common now a days. Here the wall to be painted is given a uniform
positive charge on its surface. The paint drops are given a negative charge as they are sprayed from the nozzle.
The negatively charged drops are attracted to the positively charged wall.

Electrostatic painting process

The advantage of this is that the paint is attracted to the entire surface, even to the hidden regions. Very less paint
falls on the ground. To model this, let us assume that paint drops of radius 1 mm are sprayed by the nozzle. They
are charged due to friction with a charge of 50 electrons each. Neglect the interaction between the drops. The
density of the paint is 6000 /  kg / m3 . The surface to be painted is a large uniformly charged wall at a distance
of 1 m from the nozzle. The nozzle is held 80 cm above ground. The velocity of the drops is ranging from 2 m / s
to 5 m / s (all in the horizontal direction). The minimum charge/area (in C/m2) to be given to the wall so that no
drop falls to the ground?

SECTION-III
(Numerical Value Answer Type)
 This section contains SIX (06) questions. The answer to each question is a NUMERICAL VALUE.
 For each question, enter the correct numerical value of the answer using the mouse and the on-screen virtual
numeric keypad in the place designated to enter the answer. If the numerical value has more than two
decimal places, truncate/round-off the value to TWO decimal places.
 Answer to each question will be evaluated according to the following marking scheme:
Full Marks : +4 If ONLY the correct numerical value is entered;
Zero Marks : 0 In all other cases.

49. In 10 moles of volatile liquid A(PA =70torr) 10 moles of volatile liquid B(PB =98torr) are added then A starts
polymerizing. After 10 min 2 moles of non-volatile solute C are added then polymerization of A stops. Polymer is
completely insoluble in ideal mixture of A and B when polymerization stops. Total vapour pressure of the volatile
liquid mixture is found to be 80 torr. If mole fraction of B in vapour phase when polymerization stops is x then
