~ It is formed when - Carbon Dioxide & Sulfur Dioxide mix with the Water
in the atmosphere - creating ; Carbonic Acid & Sulfuric Acid.

Air Pollution

Primary Pollutants ; are emitted DIRECTLY from the Point Source.

Major Environment International Conventions

CBDR (Common But Differentiated Responsibilities) ;

~ Common But Differentiated Responsibilities ( CBDR) is a principle in

International Environmental Law - including Climate Change
Agreements.
1. All Countries - share a common Responsibility ,
To - address Global Environmental Challenges - like Climate Change.
2. Differentiated Responsibilities - acknowledge that -
Countries have - different Capacities,Historical emissions ,
and Development levels.
So, their Responsibilities should be tailored accordingly.

Conventions and Protocols

6.Uruguay

These Countries were -

> Major Producers and Exporters of Genetically Modified Organisms
(GMOs)
> Concerned that - The Protocol ‘s Provisions would Restrict their -
Trade & Economic Interests.

~ The United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change

(UNFCCC)

2 Protocols -

India has committed to -

By 2025 ,
~ Reduction in Emission Intensity Targets.
To achieve that,
India will (also) need - a 175 GigaWatt Power Production Capacity -
from Renewable Energy sources . (By 2025)

By 2030 ,
~ India will have to - Reduce the GreenHouse Gas Emissions 33-35% -
From the levels - in 2005. (The Goal achieve - By 2030)

Contribute - 60% or less)
~ Improve - the Quality of Forest cover - on another 5 Million Hectares
(12.4 Million Acres) - of Land.

~ United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD)

In a Nutshell,
Rotterdam Convention

Key aspects of The Rotterdam Convention -

~ Prior Informed Consent (PIC) Procedure - Requires Exporting

Chemical Parameters refer to the Chemical Composition and

Characteristics of Water.
Chemical Parameters of Water Quality are

BOD Chemical Parameter, reflects

Oxygen needed to break down
Organic matter.
DO Chemical Parameter, shows
Oxygen available in Water.
Hardness Chemical Parameter due to
dissolved Calcium and
Magnesium Salts.
pH Chemical Parameter indicating
Acidity or Alkalinity.

Physical Parameter -

Eg ;

Turbidity Physical Parameter ,related to

Clarity.

Sewage Treatment Related

⭐Tertiary Sewage Treatment ;

Tertiary Sewage Treatment is also called Advanced Treatment.
It is used after Primary and Secondary Treatment, mainly to remove
Nutrients and Fine Pollutants like Nitrogenous Compounds (like
Nitrates , Ammonia) and Phosphorus Compounds (like Phosphates).
Tertiary Sewage Treatment is used to - Remove
~ Nitrogenous Compounds
~ Phosphorus Compounds
From the Waste Water.
These Nutrients can cause Eutrophication (Excessive growth of Algae)
in Water Bodies. So, they must be removed at The Tertiary Stage.
Humic Materials and Organic Waste - are usually removed Earlier
(Primary/ Secondary Treatment).

Facts ;

~ China ; The Country , which is the Largest Emitter of Green House

Gases (GHGs) at Present.
~ Curitiba ; The City which is referred to as a model Sustainable City in
Modern texts.
~ The National e - Governance Plan (NeGP) started in India in ; 2006.
( To improve Online delivery of Government services to Citizens,
increase the efficiency of Government Processes , and bridge The
Digital Divide ).
