ABOUT MNLU MUMBAI
Maharashtra National Law University Mumbai, established in 2014, is a
premier institution dedicated to advanced legal education and
research. With programs like B.A. LL.B. (Hons.), LL.M. (with
specializations), and M.A. in Mediation, the University aligns with BCI
and UGC norms.
Guided by Hon’ble Mr. Justice Bhushan R. Gavai, MNLU Mumbai hosts
research centers in areas such as Criminal Justice, Maritime Law, and
Intellectual Property, and holds the DPIIT IPR Chair. The University
fosters global collaborations through MoUs with European institutions
and actively engages in a plethora of developing and well- developed
areas of law through the establishment of research centers on Clinical
Legal Education, Criminal Justice, Maritime Law & Research,
Intellectual Property, Taxation Law, Arbitration, Mediation and
Information Technology.
In seven years, MNLU Mumbai has emerged as a dynamic hub of legal
excellence and social transformation.

Consensual Dispute Resolution, the next level of skill set and a core
competency for future dispute resolution experts. International commercial
mediation and negotiation are consensual dispute resolution processes of
choice that allow parties to remain autonomous in, and in full control of, their
commercial and business decision making.
The IBA – VIAC CDRC Mediation & Negotiation Competition is the leading
global consensual dispute resolution moot competition, attracting top
students annually to Vienna. Benefitting greatly from the experience and
knowledge of, and guidance by, the world-leading consensual dispute
resolution experts, competitors can develop and hone their skills, experience
and brilliance in international commercial mediation.
The Competition mimics near-real mediation and negotiation experiences,
collaborating with top universities and institutions from all across the world
to offer one of the best learning and networking experiences for ADR
enthusiasts worldwide. The IBA-VIAC CDRC sets the trend for a totally fresh
generation of handling disagreements, a whole new era of dispute resolution
where parties take control over resolving their disputes.
This year, marks the 10th anniversary of CDRC Vienna, an occasion that
brings forth a decade of mediation excellence and marks a major milestone.

MEET THE TEAM
Damini Thakur is a penultimate-year B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) student at
Maharashtra National Law University, Mumbai, who is passionate
about mediation and negotiation. Her experience in ADR
competitions has taught her the power of communication and
empathy. With a love for literature, she believes that storytelling and
understanding different perspectives help her craft thoughtful,
lasting solutions in complex disputes.
Khooshi Mukhi is a penultimate-year law student at MNLU Mumbai,
with a strong academic and practical background in alternative
dispute resolution. She has participated in international mediation
competitions, representing complex client interests and navigating
multifaceted disputes. Beyond competitions, she enjoys exploring
the evolving intersection of law and technology and art.
Diluki Silva is the Partnership and Collaboration Lead at UDecide
Mediation, Sri Lanka. A law graduate from the University of
Staffordshire, UK, she has a strong passion for alternative dispute
resolution, particularly mediation and negotiation. She has
competed internationally at prestigious competitions such as ICC
International Commercial Mediation Competition (Paris), IBA-VIAC
Mediation and Negotiation Competition (Vienna), ICC Asia-Pacific
Commercial Mediation Competition. In addition to her own success,
she is an accomplished coach, having trained students to excel at
national and international competitions
Tharuka Jayasinghe is a law graduate and education consultant,
currently pursuing her MSc in Business Psychology. A seasoned
mediation coach and international competitor, she’s passionate
about ADR, social justice, and animal welfare—mentoring teams to
global success while guiding students in their academic journeys.
When she’s not coaching or working, she’s probably volunteering,
binge-watching sitcoms she knows by heart, or screaming lyrics in
the front row of a concert.
