PROPOSAL FOR COMMUNITY READ ALOUD ACTIVITY

FOR BRIGADA ESKWELA ‘25
I. Title: Community Read Aloud: Bringing Stories to Life Through Shared
Voices

II. Purpose

The purpose of this activity is to foster a love for reading among

learners by involving parents, teachers, and community volunteers in
reading stories aloud. Through engaging storytelling, the activity aims
to build listening skills, language comprehension, and imagination,
while strengthening the reading culture within the school and its
surrounding community.

III. Problem Statement

Many learners, especially in the early grades, do not get enough
exposure to storytelling or reading at home. This can lead to limited
vocabulary, weak comprehension skills, and a lack of interest in books.
By creating an inclusive and enjoyable reading experience through
read-aloud sessions led by trusted adults, we can help learners
associate reading with enjoyment, comfort, and learning.
IV. Scope of Work
The activity will include the following steps:
1. Recruitment of Volunteers: Teachers, parents, SK and other
community members will be invited to participate as guest readers.
2. Selection of Stories: Age-appropriate and engaging storybooks
will be selected in advance.
3. Scheduling of Sessions: A schedule will be made for each class or
grade level to participate in a 15–30 minute read-aloud session during
the week.
4. Implementation: Volunteers will read aloud to learners in
classrooms or designated reading spaces.
5. Interactive Discussions: After each reading, a brief sharing or
Q&A may follow to help learners reflect on the story.
6. Documentation: Sessions may be photographed or recorded for
documentation and sharing.
V. Materials Needed

celebrates the power of stories and the role of community in
supporting literacy. By involving parents and teachers as storytellers,
