Notes
1 INTIP, up to Release 4.2 included , works only in HALF DUPLEX mode.
If the ports are set to auto-negotiation mode (default value), the operation of some switches is
very bad with Half Duplex mode (required by INTIP) and they remain in Full Duplex. This causes
resets of INTIP Ethernet port and therefore the loss of all IP Phones attached.
In this case, the solution is to set the switch port on which INTIP is connected to Half Duplex
mode.
2 The mode Full Duplex or Half Duplex (default mode) must be configured manually on the board
(auto-negotiation mode is not supported) =>
• If the board is configured in Full Duplex, the switch must be configured in Full Duplex too.
• If the board is configured in Half Duplex, the switch must be configured in Half Duplex too.
IMPORTANT
In anyway, the switch port has to be let in auto-negotiation. The auto negotiation of Duplex
mode, works only if the 2 Ethernet interfaces are set to Auto negotiation. In the case where only
one of these interfaces is in auto negotiation and the other one in Half or Full, the one which is
in auto negotiation will fall back in Half Duplex since the auto negotiation fails).

Note
The Full Duplex configuration of INTIP is described in the technical communication TC0379.
On the GD, the configuration is only performed with an UA set or through a "telnet" connection
on the GD using the mgconfig tool.
On the GA, the configuration is performed with mgr or 4760.
3 Only auto-negotiation mode is supported on the GD/GA/CS boards => to be able to operate
in Full Duplex, the port of the switch used for the connection must be configured into
auto-negotiation. Otherwise, if the port of the switch is forced to Full Duplex, the GD/GA/CS
boards will be unable to detect the Full Duplex capability of the switch port and will operate in
Half Duplex. Rule: the port of the switch must be in auto-negotiation or forced to Half Duplex.
4 The Ethernet port is set to auto-negotiation/auto-sensing mode. It adapts to the Ethernet port
configuration of the switch on which it is connected.
5 When the 4098FRE and IP Phone V2 (e-Reflexe) modules are to be connected on a 100 Mb/s
network, the cable supplied (FTP category 5) must be used.
6 On the IP Phone V2 (e-Reflexe), you can force the configuration of the rate 10/100 and Half/Full
Duplex mode.
The following configurations can be set (with the proviso that the configuration of ports of used
switches for the connection are identical): 10/Half, 10/Full, 100/Half, 100/Full.
7 100 Mb/s requires a specific hardware (backplane, connecting box, etc.). The OmniPCX 4400
embedded Ethernet operates at 10 Mb/s in Half Duplex mode.
