NOTES/EXPLANATIONS:
Sulphites reacts with dil.H2SO4 to give SO2 which reacts with K₂Cr₂O7
and
solution becomes green due to formation of Cr₂(SO₄) 3 .
Na₂SO3+H₂SO₄→Na₂SO₄+H₂O+SO₂
K2Cr₂O7+SO₂ →K₂SO₄+Cr₂(SO₄)3+H₂O
CO2 react with lime water,Ca(OH)2 to form insoluble white ppt.CaCO3.
Na₂CO3+H₂SO₄→Na₂SO₄+H₂O+CO₂
CO₂+Ca(OH)₂→CaCO₃+H₂O

Carbonates react with dil.H2SO4 to yield CO2 which turns lime water
milky.
Heat the solution to decompose the carbonate completely.Add few
drops of KMnO4 to this warm solution.Decolourization of
KMnO4 indicates the presence Mixture+dil.H,SO.
